We are committed to helping the population we serve, and our communities, achieve optimum health and enjoy the best quality of life possible.\nResponsibilities\nThe SANE Program Coordinator RN coordinates the BHN SANE program; provides staff training, education, and helps ensure compliance with evidence collection and storage, collaborates with law enforcement and other related agencies in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.\nProvide oversight, maintenance, and support to the SANE program\nDevelop an orientation plan for new examiners\nManage an on-call schedule for examiners\nExplore grant funding opportunities\nEnsure BHN compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards\nHelp provide oversight to the collection, storage, and transport of exam kits according to state requirements for all ED sites within the network\nCollaborate with educators and other leaders to help facilitate staff training and education pertaining to victims of violence, assault, sexual assault, and human trafficking\nKeeps patients and family informed regularly and prn\nAssesses and diagnoses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients\nDevelops, discusses and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with family/significant other in order to address all identified needs\nDemonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient\nEvaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to assure overall quality of care delivered\nMaintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team, in order to assure quality care\nMaintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development\nPerforms all responsibilities required by the emergency unit/critical care division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to the age of the client served\nUtilizes and follows national patient safety standards and develops practice standards that are evidence based\nQualifications\nEducation:\n2 Year/Associate Degree in Nursing, required\n4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred\n***RNs who do not currently hold a BSN or higher degree in nursing must meet the educational requirements established by the State of New York (New York State’s BSN in 10 Law), including completion of a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing within the timeframe required by applicable New York State law and regulations, unless otherwise exempt.\nSexual Assault Examiner Class - 40 hours of classroom training required within 12 months from date of hire\nExperience:\nMinimum 1 year hospital Med/Surg experience, required\nCritical Care Nursing experience, required\nLicensure/Certifications:\nValid NYS RN License, required\nBLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications within 30 days from date of hire, required\nTNCC Certification within 1 year of hire, required\nENPC, SANE (adult/peds) Required within 12 months from date of hire\nSkills:\nAccuracy\nAttention to Detail\nAuditing\nBudgeting\nBuild Relationships\nNetworking\nQuality Assurance\nTake Initiative\nPhysical Requirements:\nLight Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
