Behind product decisions, content recommendations, subscriptions, advertising and viewer experiences is data.\nWe’re looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to help evolve our data platform and raise the bar for how we build, operate and improve data solutions across the organisation.\nThis role goes beyond building pipelines and data models. We’re looking for an experienced engineer who takes a broader view of the systems around them: architecture, quality, observability, developer experience and how things actually behave in production.\nBefore you apply\nThis is an office-first role based in Stockholm, and we work from the office four days a week.\nTo be considered, you need to already have the right to work and reside in Sweden and be able to work office-first from Stockholm. We are not able to offer relocation or visa sponsorship for this role.\nWhy this role matters\nData is fundamental to how TV4 and MTV develop products, understand viewer behaviour and make business decisions.\nOur Data team builds the platform and capabilities used by analysts, data scientists, product teams and the wider business. We’re now modernising that platform while making data easier to access, trust and use across the organisation.\nAs a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll help shape that journey technically. You’ll build new capabilities, improve existing systems and help establish engineering practices that allow the team to move faster without compromising quality or reliability.\nYou might enjoy this role if\nYou enjoy problems where the solution isn’t obvious from the start.\n\nYou like building systems that other teams depend on and can trust.\n\nYou care as much about how something behaves in production as getting it shipped.\n\nYou naturally look beyond your immediate task and improve the systems around it.\n\nYou enjoy discussing architecture and technical trade-offs and can help create direction without needing all the answers upfront.\n\nYou share knowledge, challenge existing approaches constructively and help other engineers grow.\n\nAI has already changed how you develop software, and you’re interested in pushing that further.\n\nWhat you’ll do\nDesign, build and evolve data pipelines, data models and components of our data platform.\n\nTake technical ownership from problem definition and design through production, operations and continuous improvement.\n\nInfluence architecture and technical decisions as we modernise the platform.\n\nBuild for data quality, testability, observability, security and reliability from the start.\n\nIdentify technical debt, bottlenecks and structural problems and drive improvements even when there isn’t a predefined task waiting for you.\n\nWork closely with analysts, data scientists, product teams and the business to understand which problems are actually worth solving.\n\nImprove developer experience through automation, standardisation and shared engineering practices.\n\nHelp raise the technical level of the team through knowledge sharing, technical discussions and feedback.\n\nExplore how AI and agentic development can improve how we build and operate data systems.\n\nAbout you\nYou’re an experienced engineer whose main domain is data, but you think beyond individual pipelines or tools.\nYou’re comfortable taking an ambiguous technical problem, breaking it down and driving it towards a solution. You understand that production engineering includes testing, deployment, observability, failure modes and maintainability, not just implementation.\nYou don’t need to be the person with all the answers, but you should be comfortable forming an opinion, explaining your reasoning and changing direction when better information appears.\nWe expect you to have strong experience with:\nSQL and Python\n\nData modelling\n\nData pipelines and ETL/ELT\n\nModern cloud-based data platforms\n\nProduction-quality software engineering\n\nTesting, data quality and observability\n\nCloud environments, preferably AWS\n\nCI/CD and modern development practices\n\nExperience with some of the following is useful, but the stack is not a checklist:\nSnowflake\n\nAirflow\n\ndbt\n\nTerraform\n\nGitHub Actions\n\nWe’re also interested in engineers coming from adjacent backend or platform backgrounds who have moved deeply into data engineering. Strong engineering fundamentals matter more to us than matching every tool we use.\nOur current tech landscape\nAWS\n\nSnowflake\n\nAirflow\n\ndbt\n\nPython\n\nSQL\n\nTerraform\n\nGitHub Actions\n\nMonitoring and observability tooling\n\nThe platform is evolving, so we’re more interested in your ability to reason about systems and learn than in exact tool matching.\nThe team\nYou’ll join a Nordic Data team working across Stockholm and Helsinki.\nThe team owns the data platform and capabilities supporting analytics, reporting, product development and business insight across TV4 and MTV.\nWe work closely with the rest of the product organisation and with analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders. Our ambition is to make trustworthy data easier to access and use while reducing unnecessary complexity for the teams depending on it.\nThis is also a team in transformation.
