Think bigger. Build what’s next.\nAt Nyobolt, we’re not interested in making batteries slightly better. We’re here to fundamentally change what batteries can do.\nOur ultra-fast charging technology is built to deliver high performance without compromising the things that matter, power, lifetime, safety and usability. From power tools and appliances to EVs, industrial robotics and data centres, we’re developing battery technology for a world where waiting around to charge is a thing of the past.\nWe’re looking for a Senior Cell Development Engineerto join our growing team in Bedford, Massachusettsand help turn ambitious battery concepts into real-world technology.\nThis is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail - designing experiments, working with materials and cells, analysing data and figuring out why something works (or doesn’t). You’ll work closely with scientists, engineers and technicians to develop our next generation of high-charge-rate battery technologies and assess how they can perform across an expanding range of applications.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nYou’ll be a key contributor to our cell development activities, helping us move from promising ideas to measurable improvements in cell performance.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nPlaying an active role in day-to-day cell development programmes, working alongside engineers, scientists and technicians.\nContributing to cell technology development, problem solving and optimisation, particularly for emerging and new applications.\nDesigning and executing Design of Experiments (DOEs)to support cell improvement and new cell design objectives.\nSupporting new materials screening and cell design activities.\nAssessing technology options against the requirements of different applications and helping identify the most promising development pathways.\nProcessing, analysing and interpreting experimental data to identify trends, opportunities and problems.\nGenerating clear technical reports and recommendations for cell builds and application-based testing.\nWorking with the Director, Cell Technology and wider technical team to translate experimental results into actionable next steps.\nCollaborating across engineering, science and laboratory teams to deliver programme requirements and project deadlines.\nIdentifying and escalating abnormalities relating to cells, materials, equipment and processes.\nMaintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring the lab is operationally ready, safe, clean and organised.\nWhat we’re looking for\nYou’re a hands-on battery engineer who likes being close to the technology. You’re comfortable moving between experimental work, data analysis and engineering problem solving and you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty in the lab.\nYou’ll ideally have:\nMS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, plus 3-5 years’ battery industry experience; or\nPhD in a relevant discipline, plus 2+ years’ battery industry experience.\nStrong practical experience in battery cell development and testing.\nA genuine passion for engineering better battery technology and pushing the boundaries of cell performance.\nStrong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.\nThe ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.\nStrong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\nA practical, problem-solving mindset and the curiosity to understand what the data is really telling you.\nAn appetite for working hands-on with batteries, battery materials and electro-chemical testing equipment.\nNice to have\nIt’s even better if you bring experience in some of the following:\nLeading or mentoring a small team of engineers and/or technicians.\nTranslating battery technology options into application requirements.\nWorking in a glovebox.\nWorking in a dry room.\nBattery testing systems and associated electronics.\nJMP or other statistical/data analysis software.\nWhat you’ll get\nWe believe great technology comes from great people - and great people deserve great benefits.\nAt Nyobolt, you’ll have access to:\nCompetitive salary.\n5% company contribution to your 401(k).\nComprehensive healthcare benefits including health, dental, vision, life and disability - with 100% of premiums covered.\nHealth Savings Account (HSA).\nFlexible working arrangements.\nEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP).\nPaid Time Off and sick leave.\nRegular social events, team activities and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the wins.\nAbout Nyobolt\nNyobolt is building a world where lengthy charging times no longer exist.\nOur high-performance battery and charging technologies are designed to unlock the next generation of electrification from power tools and home appliances to electric vehicles, industrial robotics and data centres.\nWith operations across the UK, US and Asia, Nyobolt brings together a world-leading implementation team with decades of experience from pioneering companies across the electric vehicle and battery value chains.\nIf you want to work on battery technology that could genuinely change the way the world charges, we’d like to hear from you.
