We engineer in service of the owner's mission — developing sensible, financially sound decarbonization and infrastructure-renewal plans that fit within each owner's financial constraints and campus master plan, and that transform healthcare and higher-education facilities while generating measurable bottom-line impact. Multiple remote opportunities are available.\nThe Mechanical Designer is responsible for producing high-quality mechanical designs — drawings, calculations, specifications, and models — for renovation and new-construction projects at Oakwell's hospital and university clients. Working under the direction of senior engineers, this person turns engineering strategy into detailed, constructable design documents that meet Oakwell's higher technical standard.\nThis is a hands-on design role for an engineer who takes pride in the craft of design — sizing and selecting equipment, laying out systems, coordinating across disciplines, and developing complete construction documents for HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems in demanding institutional environments.\nThis position is primarily remote/work-from-home, with regular travel to client sites, primarily in the Boston area (approximately 30%). Preference will be given to candidates located in the New England area and/or willing to relocate. \nKey ResponsibilitiesMechanical Design\n\nDevelop mechanical system designs, load calculations, equipment selections, and layouts for HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems.\n\nProduce scaled drawings and specifications in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit for the installation and modification of mechanical systems.\n\nModel systems and coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and structural disciplines to resolve clashes before issuance.\n\nAnalysis & Documentation\n\nPrepare scopes of work, EMS points lists, and sequences of operation to support contractor and vendor pricing.\n\nReview existing-condition drawings and document facilities and existing MEP systems during site assessments.\n\nCollaboration & Support\n\nCollaborate with facility staff to gather information on plant operations and system deficiencies.\n\nSupport senior engineers through design development, construction administration, and commissioning.\n\nRequired Skills, Knowledge and Expertise\nHigh School Diploma + Relevant Post-Graduation Technical Training.\n\n5–10 years of mechanical design experience. \n\nExperience with HVAC on hospital and/or university projects. \n\nProficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit required; competency with Microsoft Office required.\n\nFamiliarity with energy modeling tools (e.g., eQUEST) a plus.\n\nExperience coordinating with multiple disciplines (i.e., electrical, plumbing, structural, etc.) to remove clashes.\n\nDemonstrated hands-on design outputs.\n\nAvailability to travel, as needed (approximately 30%).\n\nWhat Makes You a Great Oakwell Teammate\n\nEngineering Rigor: you produce detailed, high-quality drawings and specifications and welcome senior review.\n\nSystems Thinking: you design integrative solutions rooted in existing conditions rather than oversized shortcuts.\n\nCollaboration Toward Results: You take ownership and demonstrate agency to drive your work forward, and collaborating in a team is second nature to you.\n\nWhy You'll Love Working with Us\nCompetitive Compensation \n\nMedical, dental & vision coverage.\n\nCompany-paid life and short/long-term disability insurance.\n\nHSA +FSA programs.\n\nVoluntary accident & critical-illness coverage.\n\n401(k) with company match.\n\nPaid company holidays, floating holiday, and PTO.\n\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP).\n\nOakwell is an E-Verify and equal-opportunity employer.\nOriginally posted on Himalayas","description_format":"text","description_chars":3809,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Food & Beverages","Brewing & Beer","Spa & Massage"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-06T14:28:30Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":59,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":0.85,"p_active":0.769,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":15,"expected_fill_days":27,"reasons":["seen:15","win:mid"],"computed_at":"2026-10-22T06:10:10Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/oakwell-beer-spa-mechanical-designer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/oakwell-beer-spa-mechanical-designer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-22T09:17:13Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":5948,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-23T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3044524},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3044524"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Foakwell-beer-spa-mechanical-designer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Foakwell-beer-spa-mechanical-designer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Foakwell-beer-spa-mechanical-designer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/oakwell-beer-spa-mechanical-designer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Foakwell-beer-spa-mechanical-designer"}]}
