As a Database Engineer at OCBC, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our systems and infrastructure are secure, efficient, and always available. You'll be part of a team that's driving innovation and transformation in the banking industry.\nHow you succeed\nTo succeed in this role, you'll need to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to technology trends and advancements. You'll work closely with our technology teams to design, implement, and maintain our infrastructure, ensuring it's aligned with our business goals and objectives. You'll need to be proactive, collaborative, and always looking for ways to improve our systems and processes.\nWhat you do\nManage databases by administering, installing, configuring, upgrading, and patching.\n\nMonitor and optimize database performance, utilizing advanced skills in database tool usage including capacity planning with a detailed analysis and recommendation.\n\nPerform database backup and complex recovery.\n\nPerform strong troubleshooting, diagnosing and recovery from complex database issues.\n\nAutomate routine tasks using scripts and open-source tools.\n\nProvide strong technical assistance and advice to application teams.\n\nCo-ordinate with internal IT and escalate to vendors for timely response/recovery.\n\nGather requirements, design business and technical aspects, develop, test, implement, and write queries, stored procedures, and automation scripts for various database technologies.\n\nWho you are\nMinimum requirement of 10+ years of experience in database administration, encompassing installation, configuration, backup/recovery, database tuning, and support for application design and development.\n\nProficiency in physical database modelling, information engineering, multi-tier design and development, and open systems.\n\nDemonstrated knowledge and experience in database high availability and disaster recovery techniques and concepts.\n\nExperience in performance analysis (IO, CPU, etc.) and optimization (indexes, partitions, schema re-design, etc.).\n\nFamiliarity with geo-redundant database architectures (Always-On, Active/Active, Master/Master, etc.) will be considered an advantageous skill.\n\nRelevant experience on Oracle, SQL Server, EDB Postgres, MongoDB are more suitable for the requirement.\n\nHaving good interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills\n\nHaving good communication skills and able to work independently with minimal supervision.\n\nWho we are\nAs Singapore's longest established bank, we have been dedicated to enabling individuals and businesses to achieve their aspirations since 1932.
