This role will own the infrastructure, deployment architecture and engineering standards that enable Data, AI/ML and Robotics teams to build, deploy and operate reliably across cloud, on-premises and edge environments.\nYou will be responsible for creating a coherent platform strategy across a fragmented technology landscape, establishing common standards, improving scalability and reliability, and ensuring teams can deliver quickly without reinventing infrastructure solutions.\nRequirements\nWhat you will do!\nDesign reliable and automated approaches for moving data from vessels to shore-based environments.\nEstablish architectures for how data is transmitted, processed, stored and accessed across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.\nPartner closely with Infrastructure and Data Platform teams to ensure scalable and resilient solutions.\nDefine common CI/CD, deployment and infrastructure-as-code standards across Data, AI/ML and Robotics teams.\nBuild reusable templates, tooling and patterns that accelerate delivery and reduce duplication.\nDrive adoption of shared platform capabilities across engineering teams.\nDefine the platform architecture that enables AI/ML models to move from development into production.\nEstablish standards for model packaging, deployment, versioning, monitoring and observability.\nEnsure AI infrastructure can scale efficiently while remaining reliable and maintainable.\nOwn platform architecture decisions related to scalability, performance and operational resilience.\nEstablish infrastructure governance and reliability standards.\nImprove visibility and control of infrastructure spending across data and AI platforms.\nDrive cost optimisation without compromising performance or delivery speed.\nDevelop a target architecture that brings together multiple teams, technologies and environments.\nDefine platform roadmaps, architecture principles and engineering standards.\nMaintain architecture documentation and technical decision frameworks.\nGuide the evolution of existing platforms through pragmatic, phased improvements.\nPartner with leaders across Data Platform, AI/ML, Robotics, Infrastructure, Cyber Security and wider business functions.\nInfluence technical direction and drive alignment around shared standards.\nSupport teams adopting common platform capabilities and best practices.\nAct as the organisation's subject matter expert for platform and infrastructure architecture.\nWhat we look for!\nProven experience as a senior architecture leader, with responsibility for defining enterprise-scale platform, infrastructure or technology architectures.\nDemonstrated success in transforming fragmented technology environments into coherent architectural frameworks and standards.\nDeep understanding of platform architecture, cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation.\nHands-on experience building and operating production-scale AI/ML platforms and supporting infrastructure.\nStrong knowledge of infrastructure governance, reliability engineering, deployment pipelines and cost management.\nTechnical credibility across hybrid cloud environments, including AWS, Azure and on-premises infrastructure \nAbility to influence engineering teams through technical leadership, mentoring and practical delivery-focused solutions.\nA hands-on architect who can balance strategic thinking with technical execution.\nNice to have!\nExperience within maritime, defence, industrial or other highly regulated environments.\nKnowledge of edge computing or offline-first architectures where connectivity may be intermittent.\nPrevious experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps or FinOps.\nFamiliarity with large-scale AI infrastructure, LLM platforms or agentic AI systems.\nExperience establishing engineering standards and platform strategies across multiple business units or technology domains.\nPrevious responsibility for broader platform functions before moving into a dedicated architecture leadership role.\nBenefits\n *Salary £160,000 Per
