With continued operational ramp-up and long-term development opportunities, this is an exciting time to join the operation and play a key role in shaping its future.\nThe Principal Mining Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining long-term mine plans that support the company’s strategic and operational objectives. The role ensures alignment across long, mid, and short-term planning horizons while integrating technical, operational, infrastructure, and economic inputs to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable mining outcomes.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the development and optimisation of Life of Mine plans, production schedules, and infrastructure requirements.\nCoordinate quarterly and long-term planning activities across technical and operational teams.\nMonitor and update mine plans based on operational performance and business priorities.\nConduct scenario analysis and trade-off studies to support operational and investment decisions.\nDevelop and maintain mine planning standards, systems, and engineering procedures.\nSupport safe and efficient mining operations through effective planning and risk management.\nEnsure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.\nBuild strong working relationships across site and corporate teams to support integrated planning and operational delivery.\nMentor and develop engineering personnel while promoting a strong safety culture.\n Degree in Mining Engineering.\nExtensive mine planning experience within an underground mining environment preferably open stoping (minimum 10 years).\nStrong knowledge of mine planning, scheduling principles and sustainable mining practices.\nExpert proficiency in Deswik CAD and Scheduling Suite.\nStrong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.\nAbility to work effectively within cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.\nExcellent communication skills, including preparation of technical reports and presentation across the business \nExposure to international mining practices considered highly advantageous\n WHAT'S ON OFFER:\nCompetitive salary + STI\nAccommodation and food provided on site\n20/10 roster\nLiving Our Values recognition program\nAccess to OceanaGold Employee Assistance Program (EAP)\nExceptional working environment where people are valued and respected\nYOU MATTER: OceanaGold is committed to providing equal employment opportunities.
