This role is for new graduates in electrical engineering technology or a related technical field who want to build a career in electronics manufacturing. You’ll start with substantial hands-on assembly, soldering, rework, inspection, troubleshooting, and production testing. As you develop, you’ll have opportunities to take on greater responsibility for manufacturing processes, test equipment, quality, and production operations. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and technicians, receive training, and contribute to products used in defense, offshore energy, and oceanographic research.\nAbout Us\nUnderwater, the wireless transfer of a single picture used to take an hour. We brought to market wireless modems that transfer data 100 to 1000 times faster. Legacy modems were basically status/command links; our modems can control undersea drones with live video feedback - a game changer for exploring the underwater world. Because radio waves attenuate quickly underwater, our modems use sound waves to communicate.\nWhat You Will Do\nAssemble, solder, rework, inspect, and test circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electro-mechanical hardware as part of regular production\nBuild and test complete modems to documented procedures and quality standards\nHelp automate our manufacturing operations using software-defined measurement equipment and collaborative robots\nRamp up manufacturing of our modems and ensure quality through testing\nDesign and machine mounts and housings using CAD/CAM software and a CNC mill\nHelp integrate our modems into undersea drones and other cutting-edge maritime systems\nHelp test modems and integrated systems at sea\nHandle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines\nParticipate in continuous improvement activities and suggest ways we can improve our manufacturing operations\nHelp build a positive and collaborative team culture that promotes product knowledge and skills development\nKeep the workspace clean, organized, and safe for yourself and your colleagues\nRequirements\nAssociate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related technical field, with an emphasis on micro-electronics\nSignificant hands-on experience in electronics assembly and soldering through coursework, projects, or work\nExperience troubleshooting PCBAs using standard electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and digital multimeters\nWillingness to learn and expand your skillset in surface mount soldering and rework, PCBA troubleshooting, machining, and computer scripts\nWilling to travel up to 20% of the time\nAbility to work on a boat to deploy and operate modems at sea\nAbility to lift 35 lbs pounds regularly\nU.S. Person\nWhat Will Put You Ahead\nExperience reworking micro pitch components such as 0201 resistors and BGAs\nProficiency in reading and interpreting complex PCB schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment specs and test procedures\nExperience with computer-aided design, 3D printing, and/or machining\nExperience developing computer scripts, for example, to interface with lab equipment or automate tests\nExperience working with electrical systems up to 400 VDC\nPersonal or team projects working hands-on with hardware. This could be tinkering with embedded electronics such as Arduino or ESP32, or membership in a robotics club. Maker space projects such as woodworking, metalworking, 3D printing, or resin casting are also valuable.\nBenefits\nClose mentorship and continuous professional training\nFlexible work schedule with core hours\nAccess to advanced prototyping and manufacturing equipment, including a CNC mill, collaborative robot, and a range of 3D printers\nCompensation\nThe pay range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year. Actual pay will depend on the candidate’s experience and skills demonstrated during interviews and other evaluations. This position will begin with a 3-month trial period, with continued full-time employment contingent on strong performance during that time.\nOceanComm is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vet.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4195,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"associate","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Flexible schedule"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Network Equipment","Underwater & Marine Robotics"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-13T10:44:15Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":5,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.165,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":224,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:1","win:tail","crowd:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-15T05:46:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":80000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/oceancomm-entry-level-electronics-technician","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/oceancomm-entry-level-electronics-technician.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-15T06:06:18Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":9128,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-16T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":679976},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=679976"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Foceancomm-entry-level-electronics-technician"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Foceancomm-entry-level-electronics-technician"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Foceancomm-entry-level-electronics-technician"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/oceancomm-entry-level-electronics-technician\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Foceancomm-entry-level-electronics-technician"}]}
