As an IT Security Architecture Intern, you'll get an inside look at how cybersecurity is considered when technology solutions are designed and reviewed. You'll work with a mentor, learn from real examples, and contribute to projects appropriate to your experience and educational background.\nYour job responsibilities and projects will be based upon your experience and educational background to provide real life application of your classroom knowledge. You’ll work closely with a mentor to ensure your developmental goals are met and that you meet your performance expectations.\nAssignments may include:\nLearn the role of security architecture within an enterprise cybersecurity program. \nObserve security architecture and risk review activities and learn the questions architects ask when evaluating technology. \nLearn how to read architecture diagrams and recognize components such as users, systems, networks, integrations, data flows, and security boundaries. \nReview existing security reference architecture templates and supporting guidance from the perspective of someone learning to use them. \nResearch common technology and security architecture patterns and summarize what you learn. \nCompare example designs with documented security requirements or reference patterns under the guidance of a security architect. \nHelp create or improve diagrams, documentation, checklists, summaries, and other reusable security architecture materials. \nDiscuss observations and questions with cybersecurity and technology team members. \nDocument assigned work \nCommunicate technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. \nDevelop and deliver a final presentation summarizing your assigned projects, observations, and what you learned during the internship.\nWhat you’ll learn\nHow security architecture reviews fit into technology projects and risk decisions. \nHow architects think about identity, networks, applications, cloud services, integrations, data flows, and security controls. \nHow reference architectures, standards, and reusable patterns can make security reviews more consistent. \nHow to research unfamiliar technologies, ask better security questions, and communicate findings clearly.\n Required Qualifications\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.\n\nCompletion of introductory coursework in cybersecurity or information security.\n\nBasic understanding of cybersecurity concepts such as networking, identity and access, vulnerabilities, encryption, and security controls.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to research unfamiliar technical topics and communicate findings clearly.\n\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\n\nMinimum 3.0 GPA.\n\nExperience with Microsoft Visio or other Unified Modeling Language Applications (UML)\n\nExperience with conversational products\n\nSecurity+ or CyberSecurity Certification\n\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.\n\nDesired Qualifications\nAdditional cybersecurity coursework, labs, personal projects, competitions, previous internships, research, or other hands-on experience.\n\nFamiliarity with network, cloud, application, artificial intelligence, or identity security concepts.\n\nExposure to architecture, system, or network diagrams.\n\nFamiliarity with cybersecurity frameworks or industry security guidance.\n\nExperience with Microsoft Office and diagramming tools.\n\nCuriosity about how complex systems work and how they can be designed more securely.\n\nWorking Conditions\nThis position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.\nAlmost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night\n\nOccasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place\n\nWork surface is stable (flat)\n\nPhysical Activity/Requirements\n.\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
