Engineers are expected to learn OTECH processes and best engineering practices; and apply the knowledge towards growing a software engineering skill set. This role is key in implementing the bulk of the engineering work under the supervision of a software program lead.\nOTECH produces and maintains unique underwater systems - typically for US Navy and other US Government Department of Defense customers. Our projects are all one-of-a-kind. Projects range from quick burn to lifecycle management of fielded systems. The ideal candidate for this position would have a zest for being thrown into new situations and have a knack for asking questions when guidance is needed, while capable of functioning independently when given clear instructions.\n Learn and apply the software development lifecycle.\nWrite software at the CSU level.\nWrite software that adheres to the defined software architecture.\nActively interface with the software lead and team.\nCommunicate independently and effectively with non-software teammates for issue resolution.\nCreation and maintenance of project CDRL’s. This includes requirements management, software documentation, unit testing, software safety testing, and software qualification testing. \nSupport software testing on the factory floor, offsite, and offshore.\nUnderstand user requirements, concept of operations documents, and system requirements specifications.\nPrepare reports and present results to fellow team members.\nSchedules can be demanding throughout the year and occasional work outside normal working hours should be anticipated. \n Essential Qualifications\nBS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Commensurate experience will be considered.\nA strong interest in robotics and/or underwater robotics.\nExperience with the following programming languages: C, C++, C# and/or Java. \nAbility to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance (active clearances preferred, but not prerequisite).\nMust be a US citizen.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with microprocessors and single-board computer (SBC) based control systems.\nExperience analyzing communication protocols including: UDP and multicast, TCP, serial protocols, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc.\nExperience with Python or other scripting languages.\nExperience with Linux OS and bare metal firmware.\nExperience with React, ROS, Qt, or Unity.\nSolid written and oral communications skills, including ability to effectively document, convey, and present engineering concepts and products to team members and customers. \nAdditional\nAdditional duties as assigned.\nWe offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
