By combining world-class tech with brilliant humans who care deeply about customers and driving the renewable energy transition, we made it happen and in 2025, we became Britain’s largest energy supplier.\nOctopus Energy Group is a global energy transition collective. 10 businesses working across 4 continents to tackle energy transformation at nearly every front.\nAnd we constantly push to make energy better. Tirelessly campaigning for fair protections for customers. And building innovative technologies that forge a path to a green energy system.\nWe’re made up of 10,000+ authentic, committed people working around the world on stuff you'd never expect. We're united by a shared goal: to drive the global green energy revolution. Read our Spotlight series to meet some of the team.\nAbout the role\nAt Octopus Tech, you’ll have real ownership, variety, and the chance to shape products that make a tangible difference in people’s lives - lowering bills, enabling greener living, and delivering experiences customers genuinely love. You’ll work side by side with teams across marketing, operations, and data, and see the impact of your work in the real world, fast.\nWe are looking for a Frontend Engineer to join our Onboarding team.\nThe Onboarding team owns the main entry points of consumers for OEGB, focusing on improving the current journeys and working in new projects impacting thousands of customers everyday. They work in a very open and fast-moving environment, focusing on the user experience with a strong human touch to everything they do. Onboarding is also a very collaborative team, working together with other developers and teams, strengthening our tech stack and influencing which paths OE takes in its tech journey.\nWe embrace flat hierarchies and an open, agile culture that fosters innovation, flexibility, and creativity.\nWe don’t hang our personalities up with our coats and nor should you. At Octopus, we hire great people who get stuff done, all whilst being themselves.\nIf this sounds exciting, we’d love to chat.\nWhat you'll have\n3+ years of experience with our stack, listed below\n\nExperience taking problems, rather than strict guidelines, and developing strong solutions\n\nConfidence owning the development cycle (request, requirements gathering, technical proposal, technical execution, deployment and monitoring.)\n\nConfidence tackling large-scale tasks individually\n\nAn empathetic approach to delegating work and collaborating with others\n\nThe ability to develop websites that meet strong accessibility guidelines\n\nExperience building scalable, performant sites that handle high levels of traffic well\n\nOur stack\nReact\n\nTypeScript (desirable)\n\nNext.js on Vercel (desirable)\n\nGraphQL w/ Apollo (desirable)\n\nReact Testing Library & Playwright","description_format":"text","description_chars":2940,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United Kingdom","iso":"GB","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Power Grid","Wind Energy","Smart Grid"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-22T17:29:13Z"},{"event":"close","at":"2026-10-28T14:05:09Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Skilled Worker, Secondment Worker, Senior or Specialist Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Skilled Worker; Global Business Mobility: Secondment Worker; Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-30T06:20:16+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":null,"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/octopus-energy-frontend-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/octopus-energy-frontend-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-30T06:26:24Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":8949,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-31T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2332},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2332"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Foctopus-energy-frontend-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Foctopus-energy-frontend-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Foctopus-energy-frontend-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/octopus-energy-frontend-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Foctopus-energy-frontend-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3100676}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"octopus.energy","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3100676},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
