As copyeditor, you’ll be responsible for covering editing needs for our technical, legal, and market-based stories. You’ll provide support to editorial operations, staff writers, and journalists as needed. This role requires overnight hours, from 9pm - 6am PKT, with the possibility of shifting hours later next year as editorial objectives evolve. \nThe ideal candidate will have wire service, newsroom or similar experience, know or be able to efficiently learn our subject matter, and possess the ability to quickly make concise stories from complex information. Speed, accuracy and strong news judgment are critical to this role. Prior experience in structural editing is required. The candidate must be an excellent communicator, confidently work across different teams, and adapt quickly as editorial objectives evolve. \nThis is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic global organization, working to help shape content with experienced financial journalists, analysts, and lawyers, and editorial operations.\nResponsibilities\nDeliver high-volume copy editing of analyst stories and long-form analysis, enforcing AP and Octus style, grammar, formatting and factual accuracy\nAdopt Octus’s editorial standards, workflows, and internal tools (CMS, Monday.com, AI tools) with ease\nWhen needed, provide line editing on reporter stories: shaping story structure, narrative flow, argument coherence and contextual accuracy for sophisticated financial subscribers\nThis includes making editorial judgment calls on story completeness, sourcing standards and post-publication corrections\nOver time, you’ll work closely with reporters, analysts and subject matter experts to strengthen content, ask the right questions and push back when stories fall short\nManage publishing workflows in the CMS, ensuring content is accurate and delivered on deadline\nProvide regional crossover support to other editors as required and an “edit anything from anywhere” mindset\nRequirements\nImpeccable attention to detail and first-rate editing skills\nExcellent writing, time management and communication skills\nAbility to manage and prioritize numerous articles simultaneously while working to tight deadlines\nStrong news sense, with knowledge in financial news and markets\nAbility to work accurately at speed and under pressure\nExcellent written English\nCovering shift work during the week, occasionally working unsociable hours to ensure we publish news in a timely manner.
