The Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Division, has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility to deliver airborne Battle Management Command & Control (BMC2) capabilities that support joint, allied, coalition, humanitarian, and homeland defense operations. Modernization efforts enable continued involvement with worldwide operations by revitalizing legacy mission systems, replacing aging computer architectures, integrating multi-sensor data fusion, and improving global expeditionary readiness and availability. Additionally, the Division assists in the planned divestiture of the E-3 platform and in shaping development of follow-on capabilities for future airborne C2 systems.\nThis is a full time Hybrid position located at Tinker AFB, OK.\nResponsibilities\nDuties include, but not limited to:\nPrepare original technical papers, manuals, policies, specifications, and reports in scientific, technical, or professional fields.\n\nWrite and edit user documentation, how-to guides, instruction manuals, procedures, and training materials.\n\nTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation tailored to specific audiences.\n\nEnsure documents meet agency style, formatting, tone, and accuracy standards.\n\nAnalyze drawings, specifications, test results, mock-ups, and other inputs to develop or update content.\n\nCollaborate with engineers, program managers, vendors, and customer representatives to define technical specifications.\n\nMaintain and organize an electronic library of signed documents and final presentations.\n\nEnsure consistency and clarity across related documents, including citation of sources and generation of tables of contents.\n\nConduct final reviews for layout, grammar, and editorial quality before release.\n\nSupport document revisions, version control, and coordination of different editions as needed.\n\nUse Microsoft Office and desktop publishing software for content creation, layout, and formatting.\n\nQualifications\nCitizenship: Must be a US citizen\nMinimum Required Qualifications\nClearance: Must hold an active Secret clearance\nPreferred Qualifications\nEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 3 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 3 of which must be in the DoD OR\n7 years of directly related experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nTechnical Skills\nDemonstrated experience in technical writing within DoD information systems, business systems, or defense-related environments, translating complex concepts into clear and actionable documentation.\nProficiency in developing and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, including user guides, instruction manuals, policies, procedures, specifications, marketing materials, and technical reports.\nAbility to analyze and interpret technical drawings, specifications, mockups, product samples, and engineering documentation to create accurate and comprehensive content.\nExperience ensuring compliance with document formatting standards, version control requirements, source citation practices, and document management procedures.\nSkilled in creating supporting visual content such as charts, graphs, tables, forms, and presentation materials to enhance technical communication and user understanding.\nStrong editing and quality assurance capabilities with expertise in grammar, consistency, document reviews, and standardization across multiple publications.\nProficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, for document development, collaboration, and document repository management.\nInterpersonal Skills\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to gather, organize, and present information clearly for technical and non-technical audiences.\nStrong relationship-building abilities with experience collaborating effectively with customers, program managers, engineers, subject matter experts, vendors, and cross-functional teams.\nExceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring document accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established standards.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines in fast-paced and dynamic project environments.\nProactive self-starter with the initiative to independently research, develop, and update documentation with minimal supervision.\nAdaptable and professional team player who works effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, and geographic locations.\nDemonstrated ability to incorporate stakeholder feedback, navigate complex review cycles, and maintain positive working relationships while delivering high-quality documentation.\nAdditional Information\nLocation: Tinker AFB, OK\nTravel: 20% (Hanscom AFB, Seattle)\nHybrid\nCompany Overview\nOdyssey is a world-class technical, engineering, and integration company serving the warfighting ecosystem with airborne integration, ISR, C2, and warfighter readiness capabilities.
