While corporate, nonprofit, association and individual clients hire O’Hagan Meyer attorneys because of our broad and deep expertise, stellar reputation and outstanding track record in the courtroom, they rehire us primarily because of one key attribute: We tell it like it is.

O’Hagan Meyer LLC, a national law firm with more than 440 attorneys and 26 offices, is seeking an experienced, business-minded Director of Human Resources to lead the Firm’s HR function from its Chicago office. This leadership role requires 7+ years of HR experience in a law firm or comparable professional-services environment, with the judgment, discretion, and operational discipline needed to support a sophisticated multi-office organization. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor to Firm leadership, attorneys, and administrative professionals; establish consistent HR practices across the Firm; and lead initiatives related to employee relations, performance management, professional staff development, policy, compliance, investigations, HR operations, and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • HR strategy and leadership: Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with Firm priorities, advise leadership on workforce and organizational matters, and promote consistent HR practices across 26 offices.
  • Talent and employee experience: Partner on professional staff recruiting, onboarding, engagement, development, retention, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Employee relations and investigations: Advise on complex employee matters, conduct or oversee investigations, manage disciplinary and separation processes, and support a respectful, high-performing workplace culture.
  • Compliance, policy, and risk: Maintain compliant HR practices across jurisdictions, update and communicate policies, manage employment documentation, and exercise sound judgment with confidential information.
  • HR operations and reporting: Oversee HR systems, records, payroll and benefits coordination, office-manager support, and HR metrics that inform leadership decisions.

O’Hagan Meyer is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
