Once your profile is created, navigate to the desired opportunity and apply.\n\nPURPOSE OF THE POSITION:\nTo deliver quality, presentation, and preparation of baked goods and pastries through innovative and varied menu planning, preparation, training, and maintenance of equipment, contributing new-to-world culinary experiences in line with quality standards and procedures.\nQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:\nMinimum Grade 12 plus higher certificate\n3-year apprenticeship in bakery or baker or culinary certificate\nMinimum 2 years’ experience in a bakery or in 4* or 5* hotel/lodge operations.\nKnowledge in confectionery and dessert making\nProficient in various cooking techniques and methods, including grilling, sautéing, braising, and baking\nKnowledgeable about HACCP and health regulations\nComputer Literacy: MS Office, MICROS, Materials Control.\nSound knowledge of ingredients used for baking, the using of machines and equipment, and the production processes of bread, muffins, and pastries, as well as simple cakes, quality control, and cost control.\nStrong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry arts, and dessert presentation.\nKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:\nPrepare a variety of bread, rolls, pastries, and baked goods according to recipes and established standards.\nAdheres to the daily production to ensure all products are delivered on time.\nCollaborate with the CDP Pastry or Pastry Chef to ensure mise en place is completed for the section to the required standards within the given time frame\nExecute baking processes such as proofing, mixing, kneading, shaping, and baking.\nMeasure and adapt the quantity of ingredients to match the number of items to be baked.\nCompletes assigned prep work and beautification duties in an efficient time frame.\nMaintain weight control and product quality during production of goods by taking correct and accurate measurements.\nMaintain ongoing understanding of the ingredient consumption required for daily production and inform the CDP Pastry or Pastry Chef when fluctuations occur.\nHandle and utilise all materials and goods with the utmost care during production to eliminate waste.\nEnsure that all equipment being used is washed and cleaned after use.\nEnsures that all items of equipment, which has been used, are correctly stored after they have been cleaned.\nEnsures bakery and equipment are maintained according to proper health and safety as well as sanitation standards.\nMaintains proper working order and cleanliness of all mixers and ovens and communicates any breakdowns or abnormalities to the appropriate team members.\nEstimate baking needs, requisition adequate supplies, and inventory supply and keep records of products made and used.\nPerforms order placing for the following day’s activities.\nSupport the food cost target, with control of wastage and productivity to ensure maximum profit.\nInform CDP Pastry or Pastry Chef on ingredient orders, maintain par stock levels, and accept and store food deliveries according to SOPs.\nCLOSING DATE: 12 NOVEMBER 2026\nOL - Authentic, Caring & Passionate\nApplicants meeting our requirements are invited to apply.
