Summer Engineer Apprentices will have the opportunity to gain work experience by participating in highway construction and maintenance activities such as:\nAssisting a survey crew\nAssisting with traffic hazard surveys\nDocumenting daily construction activities and project status\nMaintaining highway rights-of-way\nRepairing highway safety appurtenances\nRepairing roads and bridges\nTesting and inspecting construction materials\nVerifying that project elements are built according to plans and specifications\nAnd much more.\nReturning Summer Engineer Apprentices will further their experience by participating in the above activities at a more in-depth level, as well as possibly being assigned to their own project.\nField assignments are available at all 77 Oklahoma counties and are subject to location and availability.\nEducation and Experience\nEducation and experience required at this level include a high school diploma (or equivalent), with strong scores in subjects involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies\nAbility is required to perform manual labor; to follow instructions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.\nSpecial Requirements\nAt least 18 years of age,\nEnrolled at an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university and\nA United States citizen or legal resident of the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act, 8 U.S.C.
