Join our team to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and social growth.\nBasic Purpose\nThe Paraprofessional is responsible for providing assistance to teaching staff in standard academic or commercial subjects, and to students in daily classroom activities or daily living skills in a state school, hospital, facility or institution.\nKey Responsibilities\nCommunications: Establishes and maintains effective educational relationships with students and teachers. Communicates high expectations for all students. Promotes a positive environment and exchanges ideas.\n\nSubstitute in Classrooms: Maintains classroom management in accordance with OYACS standards. Keeps students at their curriculum pace even in the absence of the teacher. Assists the students with their specific content (all classes) without pausing the pace.\n\nTutoring: Assists students with practice and deepen their understanding of new and existing knowledge. Assist students in every class as needed.\n\nProvides assistance to teaching staff in maintaining discipline and order in the classroom.\n\nTypes and copies materials for daily activities; assist in arranging and distributing material to students; assists with the operation of equipment used in the classroom by teaching staff and students.\n\nSchedule\nWork Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma and one of the following:\nCompleted two years of study at an institution of higher education (no less than 48 hours of college coursework), OR\n\nEarned an associate’s degree (or higher), OR\n\nTake and pass the ACT WorkKeys Assessment scoring a Bronze or higher\n\nThe following requirements should be met within 120 days from hire:\nOSDE approved Paraprofessional training through career technology centers or other state-approved training providers\n\nCardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\n\nFirst Aid Training\n\nThe following requirements shall be met yearly:\nBloodborne Pathogens AND\n\nSix (6) hours of professional development\n\nSpecial Requirements\nAll applicants must be physically able to handle the duties and pass the required training for this position.\n\nApplicants must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position, possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at time of appointment.\n\nThis position is a safety sensitive position as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8 (K)(1)(i)(2) due to providing direct childcare.
