We are searching for a EHS Specialist to join our team. \nPosition Description\nThe EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving Oklo's Environment, Health & Safety programs across our offices, laboratories, test facilities, and future construction and plant sites. You will help build a safety culture that fits a fast-moving advanced fission company, one where safety is a shared responsibility and a driver of excellence rather than a box-checking exercise.\nSpecific responsibilities may include:\nDevelop, maintain, and implement EHS policies, programs, and procedures that comply with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations\nConduct workplace hazard assessments, job hazard analyses, and safety inspections, and drive corrective actions to closure\nLead incident reporting and investigation, including root cause analysis and lessons learned\nManage environmental compliance activities, including permitting, waste management, and reporting\nDevelop and deliver EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors\nSupport industrial hygiene, chemical safety, and hazardous materials management programs\nPartner with engineering, operations, construction, and licensing teams to embed safety into design, procedures, and daily work\nTrack EHS metrics and report on performance and trends to leadership\nSupport emergency preparedness and response planning\nStay current on regulatory developments and industry best practices in nuclear, energy, and industrial safety\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)\nMinimum 5 years years of experience in an EHS role in industrial, laboratory, construction, energy, or nuclear settings\nWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements\nExperience conducting incident investigations and hazard assessments\nBonus Qualifications:\nProfessional certification such as CHST, CSP, CIH, or ASP\nExperience in nuclear, DOE, or NRC-regulated environments\nExperience supporting construction or commissioning of industrial or energy facilities\nExperience building or scaling EHS programs in a startup or high-growth company\nCompetencies\nWe are looking for an EHS Specialist that is:\nTechnically strong in EHS regulations, risk assessment, and program management\nA practical, solutions-oriented partner who helps teams work safely and efficiently rather than slowing them down\nPassionate about clean energy\nAn optimist at heart\nPassionate about making advanced fission a reality\nWilling and able to learn quickly\nWilling to think differently and do things in new ways\nComfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment\nExcited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving while not leaning only on what has been done before\nWilling to propose novel and creative solutions to safety and compliance challenges\nAn excellent writer who can write in a modern active voice, so make your cover letter compelling and write it well!\nAble to communicate technical content and results verbally\nWho you are:\nA startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process. Excellent grammar and spelling matter for both good communication as well as the image of the company that we put forward.\nAbout Oklo travel requirements:\nOklo requires remote employees to travel to headquarters (Santa Clara, CA) twice a quarter annually, based on business or team needs, including attendance at team meetings, off-sites, and other company events or gatherings. For the first two weeks of onboarding, employees are required to be in person at headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.\nAbout Oklo compensation:\nSalary: $80,000-$150,000\nOklo offers flexible time off, equity, bonuses, competitive pay, 401(k), health insurance (with employer contribution), HSA, FSA, flexible work hours, wellness credits, and other benefits.\nThis position may involve access to information subject to U.S. export control laws.
