The service is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) across multiple availability zones and geographically separated regions. The service is designed for high throughput, and 99.999 availability. We're looking for a technical leader to help us to continue to scale the service with great people and reliable, cost-effective and efficient infrastructure, processes and tooling. \nAs the Director of Site Reliability Engineering you will oversee the SRE organization focused on various emerging products like Workflows, PAM/ASA and Inbox. \nJob Duties and Responsibilities: \nBuild and lead a high-caliber SRE organization supporting Okta’s production fleet. \nPartner with global engineering, product, and infrastructure leaders to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure services. \nDefine and execute the SRE strategy in alignment with global reliability goals. \nLead post-incident reviews, drive root-cause analysis, and ensure long-term corrective actions. Participate in incident management, on-call rotations, and blameless RCAs. \nImplement automation and observability to reduce manual toil and improve operational efficiency. Drive adoption of modern infrastructure practices: infrastructure as code (Terraform), Kubernetes, and AI within the SRE org. \nHire, mentor, and develop top SRE talent; build a strong engineering culture centered on reliability and innovation. \nFoster collaboration across global teams. \nPromote continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and process improvement. \nMaintain a deep knowledge of industry best practices, evolving trends, and technologies. \nManage service and business expectations and prioritize resource allocation. \nAccelerate the velocity of SRE and product engineering by developing robust platforms, powerful tooling, and intuitive self-service capabilities. \nImprove SDLC processes for Cloud infrastructure as a code, including the maturity of CI/CD pipelines, change and release management. \nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\n15+ years of experience in site reliability, infrastructure, or production engineering roles. \n8+ years of experience in technical leadership & people management including managing managers. Strong expertise in automation, observability, performance optimization, and incident response. \nExcellent leadership, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills-particularly in a global matrixed setup. \nExperience building and scaling offshore SRE teams that partner with global counterparts. \n4+ years of experience running the SRE org supporting a SaaS/Cloud service in a public Cloud, preferably AWS. Experience supporting a multi-Cloud environment will be a plus. \nStrong expertise in cloud-native architectures, containerization (Kubernetes), IaC (Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines. \nDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large-scale programs \nEffective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills \nEducation and Training: \nComputer Science Degree or related degree or equivalent experience\nAdditional requirements:\nThere is no citizenship requirement.
