This is not a typical CRUD/backend role. You will work on backend systems that behave more like infrastructure: connectors, workers, replication flows, checkpointing, concurrency, retries, schema handling, and destination writers. You do not need to already be an expert in data engineering, CDC, Apache Iceberg, Parquet, or lakehouse systems. These are things you can learn here. What matters most is that you are a strong backend engineer who can understand complex systems, write reliable production code, debug deeply, and own features end-to-end.\n\nResponsibilities: \nBuild and maintain production-grade backend systems in Golang.\nWork on OLake's core ingestion engine, connectors, replication workflows, checkpointing, schema handling, and destination writers.\nDesign and implement scalable APIs, workers, network calls, storage flows, and concurrency-heavy systems.\nWrite clean, idiomatic, testable, and maintainable Go code.\nDebug complex issues across application code, databases, logs, infrastructure, and runtime behaviour.\nImprove system reliability, error handling, retries, observability, and production readiness.\nProfile and optimise code for throughput, memory usage, latency, and reliability.\nParticipate in design discussions and contribute to technical decisions.\nCollaborate with senior engineers and tech leads to ship high-impact backend features.\nContribute to OLake's open-source engineering culture.\n\nRequirements: \n2-4 years of professional software engineering experience.\n1+ years of hands-on Golang experience.\nStrong understanding of backend fundamentals: APIs, services, workers, databases, queues, and concurrency.\nPractical knowledge of Go concepts such as goroutines, channels, context, interfaces, testing, profiling, and memory behaviour.\nExperience building and owning backend features end-to-end.\nGood understanding of databases, networking, Linux, and system design fundamentals.\nAbility to write clean code with good abstractions, tests, and error handling.\nExperience debugging production or production-like issues using logs, metrics, traces, or runtime profiling.\nFamiliarity with Docker, CI/CD, Git, and cloud-based development environments.\nStrong ownership mindset and ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product, and founders.\n\nThis role is for you if: \nYou are strong
