Olantra is an early-stage investment network focused on Web3, AI, FinTech, and other emerging technologies. We evaluate new markets and startups, support selected projects, and connect founders with strategic, technical, and growth resources.

Depending on the final match, the position may be with Olantra directly or with one of our selected portfolio or partner projects. The specific hiring entity, team, and responsibilities will be disclosed before the process advances.

About the Role

We are looking for a Research Analyst who can combine technical understanding, market analysis, and independent investment judgment.

This is not a pure content-writing position. You will study protocols, products, business models, token economies, and competitive markets, then turn your findings into clear research theses, due-diligence reports, and actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Research Web3 protocols, AI products, digital assets, infrastructure, and emerging market narratives.
• Analyze technical architecture, product mechanics, market positioning, competitors, and adoption potential.
• Evaluate tokenomics, supply and unlock schedules, incentives, governance, liquidity, and value-accrual models.
• Review whitepapers, technical documentation, GitHub activity, on-chain data, and other primary sources.
• Conduct project and founder due diligence, identify key risks, and test investment assumptions.
• Produce structured research reports, investment memos, market briefs, and internal presentations.
• Track market catalysts, regulatory developments, ecosystem activity, and changes that may affect an existing thesis.
• Present conclusions clearly to investment partners, founders, and cross-functional teams.
• Support portfolio projects with research-driven product, positioning, and market recommendations when required.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of Web3, crypto markets, blockchain infrastructure, DeFi, or digital assets.
• Ability to combine technical, market, economic, and product analysis into an independent conclusion.
• Strong research and writing skills in English.
• Comfortable working with both qualitative information and quantitative data.
• Able to distinguish evidence from assumptions and clearly explain risks and uncertainty.
• Self-directed, reliable, and comfortable working with a distributed remote team.
• Experience in investment research, venture capital, Web3 research, product strategy, engineering, data analysis, or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI infrastructure, AI agents, FinTech, payments, exchanges, wallets, or blockchain protocols.
• Familiarity with on-chain research platforms such as Dune, Token Terminal, DefiLlama, Nansen, or similar tools.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, financial modeling, or data visualization.
• Technical background and ability to evaluate protocol architecture or source-code activity.
• Previous experience producing investment memos, industry reports, or public research.
• Chinese or another APAC language.

What Good Research Looks Like at Olantra

A strong report should clearly explain:

• What problem the project solves.
• How the product and technology work.
• Who the users and competitors are.
• Whether the business and token model are sustainable.
• Which assumptions are supported by data.
• What could invalidate the thesis.
• Whether the opportunity is worth pursuing and why.
