The team is responsible for managing and maintaining datasets, infrastructure, and libraries that power the firm's research activities across a huge number of instruments in nearly all asset classes - a vast data universe of Equities, Options, Commodities, Bonds, and more. Our day to day consists of handling production issues, developing new datasets, building next-generation infrastructure, and maintaining our data pipelines. This person will sit in our Chicago office. \nResponsibilities:\nThe complexity of data sources presents unique engineering challenges that require innovative solutions that you will help create \nYou will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and data infrastructure\nYou will help capture, archive, store, and index data for the entire firm\nYou will design and implement big data tooling to support cluster computing and high-throughput computing tasks\nYou will work on solving problems relating to how data is transmitted between C++ and Python \nRe-architect current APIs to ensure scalability and performance improvements\nCollaborate in the release process, including rolling out new releases, debugging and maintenance of systems\nIdentify and implement strategies for upgrading the current data storage capacity\nUse a combination of technical expertise and analytical skills to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of our data infrastructure \nFocus on solving tough problems using research and data and spend time solving these problems utilizing modern technologies\nRequired Skills\nExperience with C++ (required) and Python (preferred) \n4+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Platform Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar - \"Big Data\" experience preferred \nAbility to drive and lead technical projects as well as mentor junior engineers\nKnowledge of software engineering practices - what makes code reusable and extensible\nPassion for infrastructure: building internal tooling and frameworks\nExperience with the design and implement big data tooling to support cluster computing and high-throughput computing tasks is a plus\nExperience with Linux APIs - filesystems, networking, processes management, etc.\nExperience developing big data technology, preferably complete rebuilds is a plus\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field\nBenefits and Perks\nCompetitive salary with discretionary annual bonus\nFully paid Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance\nFully stocked kitchen; free breakfast and lunch every day on-site\nTuition Reimbursement Program\n401(k) with employer match\nPaid Vacation, Sick and Parental leaves\nCommuter and Flexible Spending Programs\nBase Salary Range\n$175,000 - $300,000 - Salaries are based on numerous factors such as skills, experience, and education.
