This, in turn, creates a lasting impact on the world around us.\nJob Description\nAs an Assistant Engineer for Olsson’s Rail Terminal/Intermodal team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks including terminal & civil design, project execution, quality control reviews, scheduling, estimating, and potential travel for projects. You will also support marketing and business development efforts, coordinate with technical staff, and promote efficiencies in producing quality work.\nPrimary duties and responsibilities:\nAssists with project design elements for engineering projects utilizing familiarity with standard techniques and established methods.\nPerforms entry-level plan production and receives clearly defined instructions for necessary tasks.\nGains knowledge and experience working within design and modeling software.\nReceives guidance from senior level staff to assist with project schedules and technical engineering calculations.\nContributes to limited portions of a broader project while under direct supervision.\nGathers and prepares research to assist with the assembly of technical reports.\nMay provide mentoring to student interns by answering questions and offering guidance with routine assignments.\nMay travel and work in all types of terrain and weather conditions at project sites in various stages of construction.\nQualifications\nYou are passionate about:\nWorking collaboratively with others\nHaving ownership in the work you do\nUsing your talents to positively affect communities\nYou bring to the team:\nBachelor’s degree in civil engineering.\nMust possess or obtain Engineer Intern certificate (EI).\nStrong communication skills.\nHas solid interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\nHas the ability to diligently research applicable requirements and regulations.\nHas advanced mathematical and analytical abilities.\nHas working knowledge (or the ability to become proficient) in MicroStation, OpenRail and InRoads.\nDevelops an understanding of how the firm operates as a consulting business and how this role contributes to the success of the organization.\nHas a valid driver’s license and a good driving history.\nAdditional Information\nOlsson specializes in engineering and design, client advisory services, planning, field services, and environmental.
