This, in turn, creates a lasting impact on the world around us.\nJob Description\nThe Senior Software Engineer serves as a hands-on technical leader, consultant, and delivery lead for citizen development and innovation initiatives within Applied Technology. Partnering closely with business owners, technical subject matter experts, Digital Solution Leaders (DSLs), and Technology & Innovation teams, this role helps identify opportunities, evaluate solution approaches, and deliver scalable technology solutions. The position combines software engineering expertise with project delivery leadership, guiding initiatives through the full solution lifecycle from discovery and design through deployment and support. This role ensures solutions align with approved technologies, governance standards, security requirements, and long-term support models while establishing repeatable practices that accelerate innovation and drive measurable business value across the firm\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:\nInnovation & Solution Delivery\nLead the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) from solution intake and requirements definition through architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support serving as the primary technical delivery lead. \nPartner with Digital Solution Leaders (DSLs), stakeholders, and technical subject matter experts to identify opportunities, define requirements, and evaluate solution options.\nEvaluate and recommend appropriate approaches including process improvements, automation, AI-enable solutions, low-code platforms, custom development, or third-party technologies.\nSolution Lifecycle Management\nManage all phases of the solution lifecycle including discovery, design, development, testing, deployment, support and continuous improvement.\nCoordinate cross-functional teams collaborate with IT, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to ensure successful solution delivery. \nEnsure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and effectively integrated with existing systems, workflows, and business processes. \nGovernance & Operational Sustainability\nEnsure citizen developed solutions align with approved technologies, governance standards, security requirements, and operational support models and support production deployment processes. \nDevelop and maintain documentation, support procedures, and ownership models to ensure long-term sustainability and supportability of solutions.\nPortfolio Management & Value Realization\nManage a portfolio of innovation initiatives by tracking priorities, risks, dependencies, project status, and business value delivered.\nMonitor solution adoption, performance, and outcomes, identifying opportunities for enhancement and continuous improvement.\nInnovation Enablement\nCoach and support Digital Solution Leaders, citizen developers, and technical teams through best practices, reusable solutions, and technology adoption. \nResearch emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, project delivery, and business outcomes through innovation. \nWe have one current opening and will consider candidates being based out of our Lincoln, NE, Omaha, NE, Overland Park, KS, North Kansas City, MO or Springfield, MO offices. \nQualifications\nYou are passionate about:\nWorking collaboratively with others.\nHaving ownership in the work you do.\nUsing your talents to positively affect communities.\nYou bring to the team:\nBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related field preferred. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associates degree with equivalent experience is required\nMinimum 6+ years of experience delivering technology, automation, software, digital transformation, or business process improvement solutions. \nExperience leading cross-functional technology initiatives and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders. \nExperience gathering requirements, evaluating solutions, and managing technology projects through development, implementation, and support. \nDeveloping or supporting solutions using one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, VB.NET, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, VBA, or similar technologies. \nStrong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills. \nExcellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills \nExperience with AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) software platforms and related development ecosystems, including Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Bentley applications, ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar engineering technologies is a plus. \nAdditional Information\nOlsson specializes in engineering and design, client advisory services, planning, field services, and environmental.
