This, in turn, creates a lasting impact on the world around us.\nJob Description\nOlsson’s Traffic & Technology team offers comprehensive traffic services, including traffic operation studies, pedestrian circulation studies, and intersection improvement/design projects. We specialize in traffic signal design and timing, pavement marking design, street lighting analysis, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Our expertise also extends to complex projects like citywide safety studies and signal system improvements. Through our work, we enhance transportation infrastructure and positively impact the communities we serve.\nAs a Traffic Engineer, you will perform traffic studies, prepare design plans, and contribute to the delivery of a wide variety of transportation projects. We are open to professionals at multiple experience levels and are specifically targeting candidates with approximately 3 to 8 years of relevant experience. The responsibilities and level of ownership for this position will be tailored based on the selected candidate’s experience and expertise.\nYou will design traffic signals, roundabouts, pavement markings, signing, temporary traffic control, and facilities for vehicular and multimodal users. Additionally, you will evaluate the safety and operational performance of transportation systems, analyze traffic data, and develop recommendations that enhance mobility and roadway safety.\nIn this role, you will collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams while taking on increasing ownership of project tasks, technical analyses, and design decisions based on your experience level. You will apply sound engineering judgment and continue developing your expertise in traffic operations, safety, transportation technology, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).\nWe have one current opening and will consider candidates interested in being located out of our Lincoln, NE or Omaha, NE office locations.\nQualifications\nYou are passionate about:\nWorking collaboratively with others.\nHaving ownership in the work you do.\nUsing your talents to positively affect communities.\nYou bring to the team:\nStrong communication skills.\nAbility to contribute and work effectively as part of a team.\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.\n3-8 years of experience in traffic and/or transportation engineering.\nSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification required.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) licensure is welcomed but not required.\nProficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software.\n\nFamiliarity with Synchro preferred, but not required.\n\nWorking knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and its application to traffic operations and capacity analyses.\n\nAdditional Information\nOlsson specializes in engineering and design, client advisory services, planning, field services, and environmental.
