We value individuals who think strategically, operate with urgency, take ownership, and work across functions to solve real business challenges.\nThe Role\nThe Customs Brokerage Manager is responsible for the overall management, organization, and development of the Customs Brokerage department. This role oversees daily import clearance activities, customer service requirements and procedures, team performance, training, workload distribution, billing accuracy, and communication across internal departments.\nThe ideal candidate is an experienced customs brokerage and logistics leader who can provide strong direction, develop team members, improve processes, and ensure the department operates efficiently while delivering a high level of service to internal and external customers.\nWhat You'll Do\nDepartment Leadership and Team Development\nLead and manage the Customs Brokerage department, providing structure, organization, and direction to the team.\nEvaluate employee performance and follow established performance and wage increase guidelines.\nClearly define staff responsibilities and ensure workloads are distributed effectively.\nProvide leadership, support, coaching, and guidance to help team members successfully complete their responsibilities.\nTrain, follow up with, and support the ongoing development of department staff.\nAddress employee questions, conflicts, and training needs while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.\nCustoms Brokerage Operations\nOversee the day-to-day clearing of inbound cargo and ensure customer service requirements and procedures are effectively managed.\nEnsure the Customs Brokerage department fulfills its responsibilities within the broader logistics process.\nCommunicate with staff and internal departments to maintain timely and accurate information flow.\nRespond to urgent requests and work toward resolution while maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers.\nIdentify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and overall departmental efficiency.\nBilling and Process Management\nEnsure accurate and timely billing practices across the department.\nMonitor the paid-not-billed report and ensure files are billed within appropriate timeframes.\nMake adjustments to systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.\nCommunicate regularly with the VP of Operations, Branch Manager, and other stakeholders regarding departmental responsibilities, questions, and training needs.\nCommunication and Problem Resolution\nEffectively communicate technical information through written and verbal communication, including phone and email.\nResolve conflicts and operational issues among team members and stakeholders.\nPerform calculations involving fees, percentages, taxes, currency conversions, weights, measurements, U.S. Customs and other agency fees, time zones, and schedules.\nWhat You Bring\nA minimum of 5 years of Customs Brokerage import experience is required.\nA minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience within logistics, specifically in a Customs Brokerage department, is required.\nA Customs House Broker License or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification is required. Candidates who have completed the applicable certification or licensing requirements and have their Customs Broker License pending may also be considered.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel. Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and basic formulas, are required.\nExperience with Customs Brokerage software, import management systems, and electronic document/file storage platforms is preferred.\nStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.\nProven ability to lead, support, train, and develop team members.\nAbility to delegate responsibilities and manage workload distribution effectively.\nStrong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to perform basic mathematical and operational calculations accurately.\nStrong analytical, interpersonal, time management, and leadership skills.\nHigh level of personal accountability, professionalism, reliability, and customer focus.\nCompensation & Schedule Details\nBase Pay Range: $115,000 - $130,000 annually + Bonus Plan\nAs required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, Odyssey provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including your specific skills and experience, geographic location, and other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.\nThis is a salaried, exempt position. The role generally requires an average of 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed based on business requirements.\nNo relocation allowance will be considered unless specifically addressed.
