Employees in safety-sensitive positions may also be subject to ongoing drug and alcohol testing as required by company policy and applicable law.\nSummary / Primary Role\nThe Sr. Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and directing the pickup and delivery of local and regional freight while ensuring efficient transportation operations and exceptional customer service. This role works closely with drivers, independent contractors, warehouses, customers, marine terminals, and internal departments to ensure shipments move safely, accurately, and on schedule while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.\nWhat You'll Do\nWe're looking for an organized and customer-focused logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced transportation environment. The ideal candidate has strong dispatching experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple shipments while ensuring regulatory compliance and outstanding service.\nDispatch Operations\nCoordinate the pickup and delivery of freight between customers, warehouses, marine terminals, rail terminals, and intermodal facilities.\nMonitor shipment status, appointments, container availability, and dispatch schedules to ensure timely freight movement.\nCustomer & Operational Communication\nCommunicate shipment updates, delays, scheduling changes, and transportation challenges with customers and internal departments.\nPrepare and distribute daily dispatch reports while coordinating priorities with warehousing, transportation, customs brokerage, and operations teams.\nCompliance & Documentation\nMonitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) to ensure FMCSA compliance.\nMaintain accurate shipment documentation, update transportation systems, obtain required permits, and ensure all records are completed accurately and confidentially.\nWhat You Bring\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nMinimum 2 years of dispatching experience in a trucking, drayage, or intermodal transportation environment.\nStrong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and transportation compliance.\nExperience coordinating freight movement between warehouses, rail terminals, ports, and customers.\nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.\nExperience using transportation platforms such as eModal, UIIA, chassis provider websites, terminal websites, and ocean carrier portals preferred.\nExcellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong customer service and communication abilities.\nHigh attention to detail with accurate data entry skills.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.\nBenefits\nWe offer a comprehensive and competitive compensation and benefits package, including:\nA choice of medical plans with FSA and HSA options\nDental Insurance\nVision Insurance\nCompany-paid Life and Disability Insurance\n401(k) Plan with Company Match\nPaid Time Off (PTO) and Company Holidays\nCompany Health & Wellness Program\nDiscounts with Preferred Vendors\nWork-life balance\nEqual Opportunity\nAt Odyssey, we believe the best ideas come from people with different skills, experiences, and perspectives.
