Whether you're advancing national security, driving innovation in nuclear infrastructure, or supporting critical DOE and DoD operations, you’re part of something bigger here.\nOverview\nOmega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer (Editor 3) to support ongoing operations in Los Alamos, NM.\nWe are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the development, review, and maintenance of Safety Basis documentation for nuclear and high-hazard facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in editing complex technical content, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineers, safety analysts, and subject matter experts. This role is critical to ensuring Safety Basis documents are clear, consistent, compliant, and ready for internal and external review.\nResponsibilities\nKey responsibilities include:\nEditing, formatting, and quality-checking Safety Basis documents, including but not limited to Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs), Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs), Hazard Analyses and supporting calculations, and Safety Evaluation Reports and change packages. \nEnsuring documents comply with applicable DOE orders, standards, and site-specific requirements (e.g., DOE O 420.1, 10 CFR 830).\nImproving clarity, organization, and consistency of highly technical material without altering technical intent.\nApplying and enforcing document standards, templates, style guides, and configuration management requirements.\nCoordinating with authors, engineers, and nuclear safety analysts to resolve comments and improve document quality.\nSupporting internal reviews, audits, and readiness activities by preparing documents for approval and submittal.\nTracking revisions, manage comment resolution, and maintaining version control. \nEducation Requirements\nBachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, Physical Science, Social Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.\nQualifications\nAt least 6-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nExperience editing technical or regulatory documentation; strong command of grammar, technical style, and document structure.\nExperience working with SMEs in highly regulated environments.\nProficiency with Microsoft Word and document control tools.\nDemonstrated experience editing technical or regulatory documentation.\nStrong command of grammar, technical style, and document structure.\nExperience working with SMEs in highly regulated environments.\nProficiency with Microsoft Word and document control tools.\nExceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines simultaneously.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.\nComfortable working in a highly regulated, compliance-driven environment; and ability to quickly learn complex technical subject matter.\nCandidate must be a U.S. Citizen. \nSatisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check. \nCandidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance. \nPreferred Qualifications\nPossession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years; an Active DOE Q Clearance is preferred. \nPrevious DOE/NNSA work experience. \nExperience editing DOE Safety Basis documents (DSA, TSR, USQ-related documentation).\nFamiliarity with configuration management and formal document review processes.\nWork Schedule\nShift will be dependent upon customer site discretion.Why Omega Technical Services?\nOmega Technical Services is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and a trusted partner to the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and other commercial clients, supporting mission-critical projects that shape national security and technological innovation.
