Reporting to theSenior Manager, Investment Accounting, thisrole is responsible for managing the Investment Accounting teamdeliverables, consolidating and interpretinginvestment business unit financial informationand producingkey financial statement note disclosure. This role involvessignificantcollaboration and coordination with the broader Corporate Finance groupand the Investment Financeand Operationsteam. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting and analysis for financial instruments and demonstrate expertise in IFRS accounting and reporting. Combining this experience with knowledge of financial systems, internal controls and a desire to optimize processes will make for a well-rounded applicant. The person who fills this role will be a key member of the OMERS Corporate Finance team. Our ambitions are high: we aim to be the best corporate finance team in the Canadian pension industry.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Support the corporate investment accounting function, which facilitates the consolidation of investment results and reporting on associated insights; reconciliation of data and provision of operational support toOMERS InvestmentFinance and Operations.
Preparation of keyfinancial statement note disclosures and other internal and external reporting and ensuring compliance with accounting and regulatory standards.
Reviewing financial statement note disclosures prepared by senior analysts, with strong attention to detail and the ability to clearly explain key movements and underlying drivers.
Researchingand documentingcomplex accounting and financial reporting issues to support the development of accounting policies and enhancement offinancial statement presentation, with a particular focus on financial instruments.
Developing a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders, including business partners and external auditors.
Identifying opportunities for operational improvements and to leverage automation tools to increase the control environment and efficiency of recurring processes.
Ensuring the maintenance and continuous improvement of process documentation and strong internal controls over financial accounting and reporting.
Continuous learning and understanding of investment strategies and transactions; applying learnings to the OMERS financial statements.
Required Skills & Experience:
Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting
5+ years of experience in reporting, accounting, and controls within a financial services environment.
Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or finance with a CPA designation.
Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards, particularly as they relate to investments and financial instruments.
Experience documenting conclusions and recommendations on technical accounting matters.
Leadership & People Management
Experience leading and developing a team.
Ability to guide work, provide oversight, and support team performance and development.
Analytical Thinking & Process Improvement
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.

Systems & Technology (Asset)
Experience with Oracle (including ARCS), Alteryx, Power Query, and Workiva.
