The role requires strong systems-level programming fundamentals and, ideally, prior exposure to telephony or real-time communications stacks such as Asterisk-based voice platforms, SIP signaling, and dialplan engineering. It is structured to let a strong C/C++ engineer grow into deep telephony specialization over time, with mentorship available from the team's existing SIP experts. Engineers who already bring that expertise are fast-tracked into the specialized workstreams.\nAccountabilities\nOwn the design, development, and ongoing support of performance-critical C/C++ components across Omilia's platform.\nOwn resolution of scalability and performance issues affecting telephony and SIP systems.\nEnsure effective time management and consistent delivery against deadlines.\nContribute as an integrated, collaborative team member across engineering and cross-functional teams.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, implement, and maintain C/C++ components across Omilia's platform, with emphasis on performance, memory safety, and concurrency correctness in production systems.\nDevelop efficient applications for mission-critical systems geared for high availability and performance.\nDebug complex, multi-threaded, low-level issues using tools such as gdb, valgrind, and/or strace.\nDevelop, extend, and maintain custom Asterisk modules (res_, chan_, app_*) to support call handling, recording, and routing requirements specific to the platform.\nPatch, rebuild, and validate Asterisk core and third-party modules against upstream security advisories and internal hardening requirements.\nIdentify performance bottlenecks and suggest improvements.\nDevelop with security principles in mind and scale services with a DevOps mindset.\nMeet regularly with the line manager to review progress; manage issue resolution and escalate critically when needed.\nWork effectively with other teams, units, and departments, ensuring clear information flow and team working.\nSupport other organisational priority activities when necessary, and act as an Omilia ambassador.\nRequirements\nRequired:\n5+ years professional experience in C/C++ systems programming, including memory management, multithreading, and low-level debugging.\nExperience with Git and C/C++ build systems such as CMake or Meson.\nHands-on experience modifying, compiling, and deploying Asterisk.\nExperience writing APIs and/or Web Services & Microservices using C/C++.\nObject-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.\nSelf-motivated and driven to create extraordinary things.\nAbility to work under pressure and on strict deadlines.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science.\nVery good written and oral communication skills in English.\nContinuous innovation mindset.\nNice to have:\nKnowledge of SIP (RFC 3261) and related RFCs (SDP, RTP/RTCP, STUN/TURN/ICE) and practical dialplan authoring experience.\nExperience with Java or Python programming.\nFamiliarity with FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, or OpenSIPS, WebRTC-to-SIP interworking, or call recording/audio codec architectures (G.711, G.729, Opus).\nExperience in regulated environments (PCI-DSS, HIPAA) where call recording and redaction requirements apply.\nBenefits\nFixed compensation;\nLong-term employment with the working days vacation;\nDevelopment in professional growth (courses, training, etc);\nBeing part of successful cutting-edge technology products that are making a global impact in the service industry;\nProficient and fun-to-work-with colleagues;\nApple gear\nOmilia is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
