Job Description:

FleishmanHillard, a global communications agency, is seeking a dynamic Managing Supervisor to join our Technology team in NYC. This hybrid role is focused on supporting the firm’s technology sector across B2B and B2C tech clients. The position provides an opportunity for a communications professional with a background in tech communications to meaningfully contribute to communications strategy and campaigns, media relations, corporate positioning, business development and content creation on behalf of our industry-leading clients.

Working closely with account leadership and junior staff, the Managing Supervisor will oversee day-to-day execution of account activity to ensure deliverables and client expectations are met. Our clients will depend on you to be responsive, thoughtful and proactive with ideas, own and drive communications programs from concept through execution, delivering measurable results. You will also own and advance media relations efforts on behalf of these clients across top-tier business and trade outlets. The ideal candidate is extremely organized, a self-starter who both initiates and executes, and demonstrates an ability to find synergies between multiple workstreams. They bring creative instincts to open-ended challenges and precision execution to tightly scoped ones, switching between both modes fluidly. Experience in the telecommunications, managed IT services, and consumer tech industries are a plus.

FleishmanHillard values the importance of impact and inclusion to strengthen the bonds between us, grow our people and create spaces for everyone to thrive. We stay true to our commitment to our people and the communities in which we live and work. As part of our ongoing effort to be the world’s most inclusive agency, we are committed to seeking candidates who possess and demonstrate a profound interest in furthering our impact and inclusion goals.

Responsibilities

  • Build traditional and nontraditional media relations strategies, manage and execute campaigns and projects with a team, for our clients in the B2B and B2C technology sectors.
  • Identify and pursue proactive opportunities (story angles, rapid response opps, newsjacking moments, etc.) without waiting to be asked, bringing a clear point of view on how to capitalize.
  • Work with senior members of the team to help oversee projects, connect dots across our tech accounts, and provide client counsel.
  • Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within account team; coordinate team resources and create opportunities for junior staff to take on more responsibility.
  • Write and edit communications materials that capture relevant audiences and reflect an understanding of our clients’ businesses - ranging from internal to external documents, including pitches, plans, memos, research, written content, media materials,
  • Support in the implementation of strategic plans and communications campaigns across key stakeholders that are aligned with client business objectives and deliver results.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Strong media relations skills and knowledge of media trends and issues and strong understanding of media environment.
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized, with experience driving large initiatives and major projects from inception to completion
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with a track record of driving projects forward and course-correcting when things shift. Brings energy and ownership to every account, without waiting to be directed.
  • Creative thinker who can develop original concepts and storylines independently, not just execute against briefs handed down by senior staff.
  • Equally comfortable operating in white space and ambiguity as in executing precisely against tight parameters, mandated messaging, or strict brand standards.
  • A collaborative team member, with strong project management and problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • An ability to work well within a team environment, complementing senior leads and managing junior staff.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and train junior-level account staff, provide quality control, determine workflow and assignments.
  • Strong strategic planning and client relationship skills and the ability to successfully represent FH and client companies to key stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinking and an ability to understand complex industries and business concepts quickly.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and a willingness to incorporate these into everyday client work.
  • Agency experience, or experience working in/alongside enterprise tech and consumer tech sectors is a plus.
