You’ll define the technical vision for your area, incorporate security, performance, testability, and operability into every design, and raise the technical bar of the team through direct mentorship and by setting the standard others aspire to.\nWithin the first 6-12 months\nEstablish yourself as the architect for one or more subsystems of the Next Gen platform, driving design decisions that shape the team’s technical direction\nLead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team features end-to-end, from requirements through production\nSet technical standards and drive adoption of best practices for performance, security, and operability across the team\nMentor engineers and raise the technical bar of the team through design/code reviews, brown-bags, and knowledge sharing\nPartner with product management and other engineering teams to turn ambiguous, open-ended problems into a clear technical roadmap\nLeverage your AI expertise to drive productivity improvements and develop innovative solutions for the team\nWhat type of work will you be doing?\nIn a typical day, you will:\nDesign and develop cloud service components for Horizon Cloud Services and next-generation architecture using the latest open service platforms and technologies from Azure and AWS\nDevelop solutions to make architecture and microservices highly scalable, resilient, maintainable, and secure\nApply expert knowledge of Python, Windows programming, Java/J2EE frameworks, object-oriented design and programming, and open-source technologies to develop software components\nWork in an agile development environment, applying agile scrum processes, engineering best practices, and principles\nWork with staff engineers, architects, product management, and other stakeholders to define the technical roadmap for the product in response to customer requirements\nAnalyze and understand requirements; write and review detailed research and design documents\nWork closely with team members and integration teams, and guide team members to deliver complex features\nProvide guidance to solve complex bugs and customer issues\nParticipate in organization activities, technical conferences, and recruitment events\nRequired Skills\n5+ years of extensive experience working in multithreaded, distributed application development\nDeep, hands-on expertise in Java/J2EE, Python, JavaScript, and REST API design\nStrong background designing and building large-scale distributed systems and microservices (Spring Boot, Kubernetes)\nProven experience architecting subsystems or services with broad, cross-product impact\nKnowledge of UML, software architectural style, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), and J2EE design patterns\nExperience developing solutions that make architecture and microservices highly scalable, resilient, maintainable, and secure\nDemonstrated technical leadership - driving design/code reviews, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction across teams\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across geographically distributed teams\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience\nLocation: Mountain View, CA\nLocation Type: hybrid\nTravel Expectations: None \nEducation: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.\nCompensation: The typical base salary for this role is between USD $180,000- $250,000 per year and it may be eligible for participation in a corporate bonus program.
