These practices are applied thoughtfully and with respect for candidate privacy.\nWhat is the opportunity?\nAs a Staff Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building large-scale distributed systems and platform services that power our core platform. This role goes beyond feature development-you will own system design, performance, scalability, and operational excellence of critical services. You will work on high-throughput, low-latency systems, solving complex problems in data processing, service orchestration, and reliability engineering, while influencing architectural direction and engineering best practices across teams.\nWhat will you do?\nDesign and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems using Go, with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and efficiency.\n\nOwn end-to-end architecture and system design, including service decomposition, data modeling, API design, and inter-service communication patterns.\n\nDrive performance optimization initiatives across services (CPU, memory, I/O, network), and identify bottlenecks using profiling and observability tools.\n\nTroubleshoot complex production issues, including distributed system failures, latency spikes, and resource contention across multi-service environments.\n\nBuild and operate systems leveraging Kafka, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and caching layers (Redis/Valkey) for high-scale workloads.\n\nDesign and operate services in containerized environments (Docker) orchestrated via Kubernetes or HashiStack (Nomad/Consul/Vault).\n\nCollaborate with Product, SRE, and Security teams to ensure resilient, secure, and production-ready solutions.\n\nContribute to and drive engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.\n\nParticipate in full software lifecycle ownership: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.\n\nChampion DevOps and “You build it, you run it” culture, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.\n\nWhat will you bring to Omnissa?\nStrong programming expertise in Go, with deep understanding of concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning.\n\nExtensive experience building distributed systems and microservices architectures at scale.\n\nStrong understanding of system design principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency models, and trade-offs.\n\nDeep knowledge of Linux systems, including processes, networking stack, file systems, and performance diagnostics.\n\nHands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration using Kubernetes or HashiStack (Nomad, Consul, Vault).\n\nStrong experience with event-driven and data-intensive systems using Apache Kafka.\n\nExperience with databases and storage systems, including PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and caching systems like Redis.\n\nSolid experience with cloud platforms, preferably Amazon Web Services, including managed services (MSK, Aurora, OpenSearch).\n\nProven ability to analyze and optimize system performance, including profiling, benchmarking, and capacity planning.\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills across application, infrastructure, and network layers.\n\nExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.\n\n8-12+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend systems and distributed architectures\n\nLocation: Atlanta, GA \nLocation Type: hybrid\nTravel Expectations: None\nEducation: Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.\nCompensation: The typical base salary for this role is between USD $164,512 - $274,187 per year and it may be eligible for participation in a corporate bonus program. Actual compensation offer may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, or other relevant factors.
