This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experiences for employees by ensuring meals are prepared, presented, and served in a clean, organized, and efficient manners. The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, organized, and enjoys working with people. This role works closely with the Dining Hall Manager to support daily meal service for approximately 50-70 employees and guests.\n\nESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES\nFood Preparation & Service\nAssist with preparation and service of lunch offerings.\nPrepare ingredients, salads, sandwiches, soups, side dishes, and simple meal items.\nSet up, stock, and maintain the salad bar and beverage stations.\nAssist with portioning, plating, and food presentation.\nMonitor food quality and freshness throughout service.\nEnsure food is available and replenished during service hours.\nAssist with special meals, meetings, and employee events as needed.\nMeal Planning Support\nAssist the Dining Hall Manager in planning weekly menus.\nOffer ideas for menu variety, seasonal items, and employee favorites.\nMonitor popular menu items and provide feedback regarding employee preferences.\nAssist with recipe preparation and food production planning.\nInventory and Ordering Support\nHelp monitor inventory levels of food, beverages, and supplies.\nReceive, inspect, and properly store incoming deliveries.\nRotate inventory and monitor expiration dates.\nAssist with food orders and vendor coordination.\nHelp track food usage and minimize waste.\nDining Hall Operations\nSet up dining areas prior to meal service.\nClean and reset dining areas following service.\nKeep serving stations, beverage areas, condiment stations, and storage areas clean and stocked.\nMaintain a welcoming, organized, and professional environment.\nAssist employees and guests in a helpful and friendly manner.\nSupport smooth daily operation of the dining hall.\nFood Safety and Sanitation\nFollow all food safety, sanitation, labeling, and temperature-control standards.\nMaintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, storage areas, coolers, freezers, and dining spaces.\nWash dishes, utensils, cookware, and service equipment as needed.\nMaintain food safety logs and cleaning schedules.\nFollow all company safety procedures and health regulations.\nOperational Support\nAssist in training new dining hall team members and temp support if necessary.\nSupport the Dining Hall Manager during busy periods and special events.\nAssume responsibility for basic dining hall operations during the Dining Hall Manager's absence.\nHelp identify opportunities to improve service, quality, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.\n\nOTHER DUTIES\nPerforms other duties and projects assigned.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nNone, unless temporary or part-time support is assigned to the dining hall\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\nKnowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.\nUnderstanding of food safety and sanitation practices.\nAbility to prepare food efficiently while maintaining quality standards.\nStrong attention to cleanliness and organization.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nStrong customer service and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.\nDependable attendance and punctuality.\nBasic computer skills including email and online ordering systems.\nPositive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES\nRequired:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nOne or more years of experience in food service, hospitality, catering, cafeteria operations, restaurant\noperations, or a related environment.\nExperience preparing food and serving customers.\nStrong organizational and customer service skills.\nAbility to work independently with limited supervision.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\nExperience in a corporate cafeteria, employee dining facility, school cafeteria, or catering operation.\nExperience assisting with inventory management and food ordering.\nFood Handler Permit or ability to obtain.\nServSafe certification or ability to obtain.\n\nPREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES\nServSafe Food Manager Certification or equivalent, if not required by applicable law or company policy\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nDuties are primarily performed indoors in kitchen, food storage, serving, and dining areas\nThe position regularly works near hot surfaces, sharp utensils, coolers, freezers, and cleaning products\nWork is generally performed on-site during meal preparation and service hours\n\nWAGES\nEstimated Starting Hourly Wage: $23.00\nExact starting hourly wage is determined by merit;
