This position provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support and application development for scientific data platforms including GeoData (open-source software), Ag Data Commons (SaaS platform with local data harvests), and related scientific research data products.\nThe ideal candidate will have experience developing modern web applications, designing microservices, supporting scientific data repositories, and working within Linux-based environments using open-source technologies.\nTask and Duties:\nProvide Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support for NAL scientific research data applications.\nDesign, develop, and maintain microservices supporting scientific data ingest, processing, and data egress.\nDevelop and maintain system architecture documentation, API specifications, technical diagrams, and data models.\nSupport application enhancements, software updates, testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and production releases.\nConfigure and maintain SaaS application environments, including application configuration updates and data migration activities.\nDevelop repository reporting dashboards and analytics for scientific repository usage and statistics.\nDesign and implement RESTful APIs supporting internal and external integrations.\nDevelop and execute testing protocols, quality assurance (QA) processes, automated testing, and UI testing.\nSupport ETL processes and data migration activities for application modernization efforts.\nEnsure applications comply with federal accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.x AA requirements.\nTroubleshoot production issues and provide technical support throughout the software development lifecycle.\nParticipate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical documentation.\nCollaborate with federal stakeholders, developers, data managers, and system administrators to deliver high-quality software solutions.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).\nMinimum 5 years of professional experience developing customized applications.\nDemonstrated experience with:\nXML transforms and XML Schema\nJavaScript frameworks (Angular preferred)\nJSON\nHTML5\nOpenLayers 3\nGroovy\nPostgreSQL\nPostGIS\nLinux command-line tools\nDrupal\nPython or other scripting languages\nRESTful API design and implementation\nMinimum 1 year of experience working with open-source software and tools.\nExperience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures.\nFamiliarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).\nExperience developing metadata-driven microservices supporting scientific data ingest and egress.\nExperience with ETL processes, data migration tools, and application configuration updates.\nExperience with scientific metadata creation, curation, and repository management tools.\nExperience deploying and maintaining web applications in production environments.\nExperience working with geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial data applications.\nStrong experience with relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.\nExperience using Git/GitHub version control.\nStrong Linux administration and command-line proficiency.\nExpert knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, and responsive web development.\nKnowledge of the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and USDA Digital Strategy Playbook.\nMinimum 2 years of practical experience performing Section 508 testing, remediation, and accessibility compliance.\nPractical experience ensuring applications meet WCAG 2.x AA accessibility requirements.\nExcellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and customer service skills.\nAbility to work independently and within cross-functional teams.\nAbout One Federal Solution:\nOne Federal Solution (OFS) is an innovative Professional Services provider with over 20 years of experience supporting Defense and Civilian agencies.
