We are at the forefront of innovation in the industry, connecting communities and shaping the future of public transport.\nWe have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Data Engineer to join our Data Analytics team on a full-time permanent basis.\nThe successful candidate will help us strengthen the data foundations that power decision-making across First Bus.\nYou’ll work as part of our central Data & Analytics team, supporting the build and maintenance of data pipelines and models that underpin reporting, analytics, and data science use cases.\nThis role is ideal for someone with around a year of experience in data engineering or data-related work who’s keen to learn, collaborate, and grow their technical skills in a supportive environment.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nAssist in building and maintaining data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SQL\nSupport the creation of clean, well-structured datasets that power business reporting and analysis\nHelp modernise and maintain our data warehouse and associated data models\nWork with analysts and engineers to understand requirements and translate them into structured data solutions\nMonitor data loads and help troubleshoot basic pipeline or data quality issues\nContribute to documentation, naming conventions, and consistency across datasets\nCollaborate closely with the wider D&A team to learn shared standards and delivery practices\nWhat we’re looking for\nA degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)\nPrevious experience in a data engineering or data-related role (internship, graduate scheme, or first role)\nGood SQL skills and an understanding of how data is structured and queried\nSome familiarity with Python or R\nInterest or experience with Azure Data Factory or similar data pipeline tools\nEnthusiasm for cloud technologies (Azure preferred)\nA collaborative working style and a willingness to learn from others\nA mindset focused on data quality, consistency, and improving how data is used\nSalary - £30-£35,000\nRewards:\nYour health is important to us which is why we offer Simply Health & Smart Health for you and your dependents at no cost to you!
