We’d love for you to join our team!\nJob Summary\nB&A is looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Lead Designer who is highly motived, experienced mechanic engineer that will be tasked with working with a collaborative design team based on product requirements. Responsible for design and integration of electronic suites of equipment for industrial and DoD use into final deliverable products. This design position utilizes CAD/CAM/PLM based software packages to create detailed product drawings and 3D models of new products, product assemblies, and engineering change orders. The position requires collaboration internal to the department between engineering, production, and support staff as well as direct interaction with our customers.\nResponsibilities\nCreate detailed product models/drawings for new discreet parts and products, product redesign, product revisions and associated integration product assemblies’ drawings. \nPerforms various drafting, illustrative, technical, manual, and supporting administrative duties as required in support of new part numbers, Bills of Material (BOM), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and drawings. \nPerforms maintenance of system generated files for engineering and customer changes. \nPrepare engineering level Bill of Materials (BOMs) for product implementation into production. \nMaintains and reconciles revisions between drawing files, model files, and productions systems. \nCollaborates with engineering and manufacturing to develop, create, and implement 3D software models, assemblies, illustrations following defined submittals and engineering drawings processes in support of prototypes, final design, manufacturing, and quality specifications. \nInterfaces with engineers, customers, and other organizations to verify that data pertaining to product specification is documented accurately. \nWorks with fabricators on model files, drawing clarifications, and build operations on submitted 3rd party builds. \nLead and collaborate environmental qualification testing, when required, by working with certified test facilities. \nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. \nA minimum of 4 years direct experience in mechanical design. \nShall have prior experience in using a computer-aided design (CAD) system (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or similar) producing models and draft files. \nShall provide attention to detail on all aspects of assigned tasks. \nShall be self-motivated and task completion oriented. \nShall have the ability to effectively work in a collaborative, team based environment as well as independently. \nShall possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize efforts in a fast paced environment. \nShall have the ability to learn new processes, design applications and features. \nShall have basic computer skills including typical Microsoft office software applications. \nShall have a record of punctuality and regular on-site attendance (this is an on-site position). \nShall display good communication and interpersonal skills. \nShall have the ability to provide direct checking efficiently and effectively on drawings and model files. \nShall have the ability to obtain a security clearance if required. \nShall have the expertise to produce quality engineering drawings and understand typical engineering standards and workflows. \nShall be proficient in the design of parts for third party fabrication. \nShall have direct experience in the creation, modification, and maintenance of drawing packages. \nShall have the knowledge, skill, and ability to understand and interpret product drawings across multiple functional groups (i.e., interface of electrical hardware, assembly drawings, interface control drawings). \nShall have the ability to lift 25lbs. \nShall have the ability to operate basic hand tools and work standing or sitting for an extended period. \nDesired Skills\nExperience utilizing Solid Edge. \nExperience with MIL-STD environmental qualification testing. \nExperience with military hardware designs/standards. \nExperience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD). \nExperience with technical input and proposal efforts. \nSecurity Clearance\n Shall have the ability to obtain a security clearance if required. \nPhysical & Work Environment Requirements\nEmployees must be able to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without accommodation.\nAbility to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer.\nFrequently operate standard office equipment, including computers and telephones.\nAbility to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, video conference, and email.\nOccasionally move about the office and lift up to 20 pounds.\nAbility to work the assigned schedule with regular and reliable attendance.\nAbility to travel up to 10% as required.\nMore About B&A:\nB&A delivers secure, innovative, and mission-critical IT solutions to support the United States Government across all three branches-Executive, Legislative, and Judicial-focused on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.
