The position guides technical decision-making and maintains system level oversight across the software lifecycle to deliver high-quality outcomes for EOS Space Systems' space control products.\nWorking within a multidisciplinary team, the role translates user and operational requirements into robust software solutions, contributes to system integration activities, and delivers customer-facing enhancements, including UI/UX improvements.\nPrimary duties\nDesign, develop, integrate, and maintain high-performance software systems supporting space telescope and laser operations, ensuring reliable and efficient functionality through rigorous testing, system verification, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain software systems supporting space telescope and laser operations\n\nDeliver high-quality, reliable, and high-availability software solutions for mission-critical environments\n\nSupport system integration, verification, and validation within observatory and space systems\n\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams across software, hardware, optical, and systems engineering\n\nImplement and enhance DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and system automation\n\nPerform troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis of complex software and system issues\n\nContribute to distributed processing and real-time systems\n\nDevelop and enhance visualisation tools and user interfaces for operational use\n\nEnsure software meets the requirements of safety-critical systems\n\nSupport continuous improvement of software quality, performance, and engineering standards.\n\nExperience\nA least 3 years’ experience\n\nStrong experience in C++ development on Windows and Linux platforms within complex engineering environments\n\nExperience with Python or similar programming languages for system development, automation, and data processing\n\nProven experience applying software testing methodologies and frameworks, including unit, integration, and system-level testing\n\nExperience developing and supporting high-availability, mission-critical software systems\n\nExposure to distributed processing and real-time systems, particularly in scientific or observatory environments\n\nExperience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated deployment\n\nKnowledge of safety-critical software and systems automation, including interaction with hardware or bespoke firmware\n\nExperience contributing to visualisation tools, user interfaces, and data-driven applications (desirable)\n\nFamiliarity with space systems, astronomical observatories, or laser-based platforms
