Manual QA Engineer

We are seeking a detail-orientated and experienced Manual QA Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in testing web and mobile applications, API validation, database testing, and defect management. The candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and user-friendly applications.

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:

Test Planning and Execution:

• Analyse business requirements and technical specifications to design comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
• Execute functional, regression, system, UI, smoke, and sanity testing for web and mobile applications.
• Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing to ensure compatibility and a consistent user experience.
• Identify test coverage gaps and ensure complete validation of application features.

API and Database Testing:

• Perform REST API testing using Postman, including validation of requests, responses, headers, authentication, and environments.
• Validate backend data integrity by writing and executing SQL queries on MySQL/PostgreSQL databases.
• Ensure accurate data flow between frontend and backend systems.

Defect Management and Collaboration:

• Identify, document, prioritise, and track defects using tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or similar platforms.
• Collaborate with development teams to reproduce issues and verify bug fixes.
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming sessions.

User Acceptance and Exploratory Testing:

• Conduct exploratory testing to identify usability, functional, and edge-case issues.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and release validation activities with stakeholders.
• Ensure production readiness by validating critical business workflows before release.

The core requirements for the job include the following:

Performance Testing (Preferred):

• Basic understanding or hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6 or Locust will be an added advantage.

Required Skills:

• Manual Testing: Functional Testing, Regression Testing, Smoke Testing, Sanity Testing, and UI Testing.
• API Testing: Postman, REST API Validation, Collections, Assertions, Authentication, and Environment Management.
• Database Testing: SQL query writing, data validation using MySQL/PostgreSQL.
• Defect Tracking Tools: JIRA, TestRail, and similar bug tracking and test management tools.

Agile Methodology:

• Experience working in Scrum or Kanban environments.
• Strong understanding of Agile QA processes.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
