Our client is an international product company operating a portfolio of 11 profitable B2C SaaS products and desktop/mobile applications used by customers worldwide.
The products are developed fully in-house by a distributed engineering organization of approximately 40-50 people. The company is founder-led, fully remote, and operates with a pragmatic, fast-moving culture.
Following a period of rapid growth and organizational development, the company is now focused on improving execution speed, strengthening technical alignment across products, and creating a more scalable and efficient engineering organization.
About the Role
Our client is looking for a Chief Technology Officer who enjoys building and driving execution, not only managing an established technology function.
This person will lead the engineering organization and work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team. The CTO will be responsible for translating business priorities into clear technical decisions, aligning teams around execution, and ensuring the company can continue improving and scaling its product portfolio without losing speed.
The role requires a leader who combines strategic judgment with a strong bias toward action. The right person will be comfortable making decisions in a fast-changing environment, challenging existing approaches, and implementing meaningful changes without creating unnecessary complexity.
Responsibilities
Technology and Business Leadership
Define and execute the technology strategy across the company’s B2C product portfolio.
Translate commercial and product priorities into clear engineering plans.
Act as a close technology partner to the CEO and senior leadership team.
Identify technical opportunities and risks affecting product growth, operational efficiency, and scalability.
Make timely decisions and maintain execution momentum across the technology organization.
Engineering Organization
Lead an engineering organization of approximately 40-50 people across backend, frontend, full-stack, QA, and DevOps functions.
Align engineering teams supporting six business units and multiple digital products.
Strengthen collaboration between engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Develop engineering leaders and establish clear accountability across teams.
Evaluate the existing organizational structure and introduce changes where they can improve delivery and ownership.
Architecture and Technical Excellence
Own the technical direction and architectural evolution of the company’s products.
Ensure systems remain secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
Guide technical decisions across a modern stack including Node.js, NestJS, Next.js, Kubernetes, and AWS.
Improve engineering standards, quality assurance practices, data protection, and operational reliability.
Balance long-term architectural quality with the need to deliver measurable business results quickly.
Delivery and Operational Performance
Improve development speed, predictability, and quality across multiple product teams.
Establish clear engineering priorities, KPIs, and delivery expectations.
Partner with product leaders to plan roadmaps and prioritize initiatives according to business value and technical feasibility.
Monitor technology costs and ensure efficient allocation of engineering resources.
Remove organizational and technical bottlenecks that slow down execution.
Requirements
Significant experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, Director of Engineering, Head of Engineering, or in a comparable senior technology leadership role.
Proven experience leading and scaling an engineering organization of approximately 40-60 people.
Experience working with a portfolio of B2C SaaS products, subscription products, desktop applications, or mobile applications.
Strong understanding of product engineering in a fast-growing, founder-led, or startup environment.
Demonstrated ability to improve execution speed and lead organizational or technical change.
Strong technical background with the ability to evaluate architecture and challenge technical decisions.
Practical experience with Node.js, NestJS, Next.js or other SSR/SSG frameworks, Kubernetes, and AWS.
Experience managing distributed and fully remote engineering teams.
Ability to communicate technology strategy clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.
Fluent English.
