We are looking for a proactive, organised and student-focused Student Funding Advisor to join our team in Birmingham.

About the role

As a Student Funding Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting students through the funding aspects of their enrolment journey. You will help them understand their tuition fees, available funding options, payment responsibilities and key deadlines, ensuring they feel informed and confident as they prepare to study.

You will provide accurate and empathetic ongoing guidance on undergraduate and postgraduate student loans, sponsorship arrangements, self-funding and payment plans. You will also manage student cases from initial enquiry through to resolution, proactively following up where actions or documentation are outstanding.

Working closely with internal teams and university partners, including Finance, Student Records and Admissions, you will help ensure funding arrangements are in place, complex cases are escalated appropriately and students receive a smooth, supportive experience.

This role is central to both student success and the timely, accurate collection of tuition fees.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing clear, one-to-one guidance to students on tuition fees, payment options, funding routes, sponsorship and their financial responsibilities.
  • Supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students through the student loan application process, including explaining the implications of delays, incomplete applications or unsuccessful outcomes.
  • Helping students establish suitable payment arrangements and maintaining regular contact until funding or payment is confirmed.
  • Responding to funding enquiries and discussing available options when difficulties arise, including self-funding, deferral or a leave of absence.
  • Monitoring payment and funding deadlines, issuing timely reminders and clearly explaining the consequences where requirements are not met.
  • Maintaining accurate records of payments, loan applications, payment plans and sponsorship arrangements.
  • Working closely with University Finance, Student Records, Registry and OES Admissions teams to resolve queries and support student enrolment.
  • Escalating complex or high-risk cases appropriately and contributing ideas to improve funding processes and student communications.

Requirements

You will be a confident and empathetic communicator who can help students navigate important financial decisions while applying policies clearly, fairly and consistently.

You will also bring:

  • Experience in finance, administration, customer service or case management; experience within higher education would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing individual cases or enquiries from initial contact through to resolution.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, particularly when handling financial or student information.
  • The ability to manage a busy workload and work effectively to deadlines and service-level agreements.
  • Confidence handling sensitive or challenging financial conversations with sound judgement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience using CRM, student-record or payment systems, with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • A proactive, collaborative and student-focused approach, with the confidence to escalate concerns when appropriate.

A tertiary qualification, or substantial progress towards completing one, would also be highly desirable.

Benefits

    • Global organisation focused on growth, with opportunities for employees to develop their careers.
    • Engaging, vibrant and collaborative organisational culture.
    • 35-hour working week within a flexible working environment.
    • Career-life fit, supported by a strong focus on health and wellbeing.
    • 25 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays.
    • Purchased leave scheme.
    • Study assistance and leave for eligible employees.
    • Global mentoring programme.
    • Values-driven recruitment principles.
    • A strategy built on respect, honesty and diversity.
    • Challenging and meaningful work that supports continuous improvement.
    • A high-growth industry with strong partner and shareholder backing.
    • A genuine focus on student success.
    • Proud supporters of the Living Wage movement.
