Most of your time will be spent delivering planned infrastructure, cloud, Microsoft 365, networking, security, and migration projects rather than working a queue of reactive support tickets.\nWhat You Will Do\nYou will be responsible for the technical delivery of client projects from discovery and planning through implementation, testing, documentation, and handoff.\nTypical projects include:\nNew-client infrastructure onboarding and remediation\nOffice moves and production infrastructure cutovers\nInfrastructure refreshes and upgrades\nFirewall, switching, wireless, VLAN, VPN, and routing implementations\nBackup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions\nMicrosoft 365 tenant migrations involving Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive\nMicrosoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, identity synchronization, and hybrid identity\nWindows Server and Active Directory migrations, upgrades, and remediation\nServer, file-service, and workload migrations\nVMware and Hyper-V deployments and migrations\nYou will also:\nDevelop implementation plans, migration plans, rollback procedures, and technical checklists\nAssess existing client environments and identify technical dependencies before implementation\nTest and validate solutions before and after production deployment\nTroubleshoot complex technical issues encountered during projects\nCoordinate with clients, vendors, service providers, and internal teams\nTrack progress against project scope, schedule, and budget\nIdentify scope changes and raise them before additional work is performed\nMaintain accurate project and technical documentation\nUpdate diagrams, configuration records, asset information, and other client documentation\nComplete technical handoffs to Grey Owl’s Managed Services team\nProvide knowledge transfer to internal teams and, where required, clients\nIdentify opportunities to standardize and automate deployment processes\nWhat We Are Looking For\nWe are looking for someone who can independently deliver production infrastructure projects, not someone whose experience is primarily limited to service desk support.\nYou should have:\n5+ years of professional IT infrastructure experience\n3+ years working within an MSP, IT consulting firm, or professional services organization\nDemonstrated experience independently delivering infrastructure projects\nExperience performing production migrations and infrastructure cutovers\nExperience working directly with small and mid-sized business clients\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills\nStrong technical documentation skills\nProfessional client-facing communication skills\nExperience working within a PSA or project-management system\nHow You Work\nA strong Professional Services Engineer:\nPlans before making production changes\nUnderstands the project scope before beginning work\nIdentifies missing prerequisites and risks early\nTakes ownership of technical outcomes\nCommunicates proactively when conditions or timelines change\nRecognizes scope creep\nTests thoroughly before considering work complete\nDocuments changes as part of the implementation\nBuilds solutions that can be effectively supported after project handoff\nAutomates repetitive deployment activities where practical\nKnows when to troubleshoot independently and when to escalate\nCertifications\nRelevant certifications are valued, but practical experience is more important.\nExamples include:\nMicrosoft 365 or Microsoft identity certifications\nFortinet certifications\nCisco CCNA or CCNP\nVMware Certified Professional\nVeeam certifications\nCompTIA Network+, Security+, or CySA+\nITIL Foundation\nProject management certifications such as CAPM or PMP\nEquivalent combinations of experience, education, and certifications will be considered.\nLocation and Work Schedule\nThis position is fully onsite in Vancouver, BC. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.\nThe role includes regular work from the Grey Owl office in Downtown Vancouver and travel to client locations throughout Greater Vancouver, depending on project requirements.\nMost work is completed during normal business hours.
