Onsemi is an American semiconductor company that was spun out of Motorola in 1999 and has since narrowed itself from a broad commodity chip supplier into a focused power and sensing business. Its silicon carbide and silicon power devices go into electric vehicle traction inverters, chargers and industrial drives, while its image sensors are used in automotive cameras and industrial vision, and it has deliberately exited lower-margin product lines to concentrate on these markets. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona and listed on Nasdaq, it owns its own silicon carbide substrate manufacturing to secure supply.

As Applications Manager, you will lead an applications engineering team supporting high-voltage AC/DC controllers and driver solutions. The role places strong emphasis on engagement with key strategic customers, providing deep technical support across design-in activities, reference designs, and issue resolution in partnership with test and product engineering teams. You will contribute to the definition and advancement of differentiated power conversion solutions, with a focus on Wide Bandgap (WBG) technologies-spanning AC-DC and DC-DC PWM controllers, discrete gate drivers, and integrated smart power stages. Acting as a bridge between market needs and engineering execution, you will help translate customer requirements into compelling product definitions that deliver best-in-class performance, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a Taiwan-based applications engineering team delivering high-quality technical support for onsemi AC/DC solutions.
  • Establish and execute a high-voltage customer support strategy, primarily for Taiwan, with selected coverage across the broader APAC region.
  • Maintain a hands-on technical presence to clearly communicate the capabilities and value proposition of onsemi AC/DC products.
  • Engage with customers to understand system requirements and proactively recommend appropriate products, architectures, and support resources.
  • Partner closely with regional Sales and FAE teams to enable customer success and support revenue objectives.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for onsemi AC/DC technologies, delivering technical guidance, reviews, and training to internal teams and customers.
  • Drive development of reference designs, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept platforms highlighting onsemi’s AC/DC solutions.
  • Support business growth by analyzing customer feedback and market trends to identify opportunities for product enhancement and new solution development.
  • Lead resolution of customer technical escalations by coordinating effectively across internal engineering and operations teams.
  • Oversee application engineering engagements with external partners and design houses.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings to provide actionable input into the AC/DC product roadmap.

You are a self-driven engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You have a demonstrated capability to develop and take to market innovative power management products. You have strong communication skills and excel at managing multiple priorities and building lasting relationships across teams and with customers.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred
  • At least 10+ years of experience in power electronics including hardware design, product definition or Applications engineering, and customer support. Experience in semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Managerial experience is preferred
  • Deep knowledge of power supply applications and/or motor control systems including power conversion topologies, control techniques, and magnetics design.
  • Hands-on experience with digital/analog controllers and drivers for power management and/or motor drive.
  • Proficiency using simulation tools such as SIMPLIS, Simulink, or SPICE to model and validate complex systems.
  • Proficiency with equipment and tools commonly used in a hardware engineering lab environment including oscilloscopes, power meters, waveform generators, network analyzers, etc.
  • Familiarity with customer product qualification including safety standards, EMI compliance, and thermal management
  • Familiarity with best practices for PCB layout of power applications
  • Ability to implement microcontroller or FPGA-based power supplies is a plus
