We offer a dynamic workplace culture, along with a competitive salary, excellent benefit package, a defined benefit pension plan, paid vacation, paid personal leave days and discounted transportation on our bus and passenger rail services.\nACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:\nRailway Car Technicians inspect, maintain, repair, and remanufacture railway passenger cars, freight cars and their components\nMAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:\nInspects, troubleshoots, repairs and tests rail car equipment\nPerforms preventative maintenance work\nWorks from blueprints\nUses hand tools and various testing devices and instruments\nOperate equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes and forklifts to assist with assignments\nAdapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment\nFollows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment\nMay work various shifts and on weekends and some work outdoors in adverse weather\n REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma (OSSD) or General Education Diploma (GED)\nCertificate of Qualification as Railway Car Technician 268R or within final year of apprenticeship in the same identified trade\nMust be mechanically inclined\nAvailable for shift work\nDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment\nKnowledge of safety codes and has demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious manner\nAbility to work outside in all weather conditions and walk on rough terrain\nGood interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)\nCommitment to Health and Safety\nMust have a valid driver’s license\nAPPLICATION PROCESS: The successful candidate will need to pass the following clearances: criminal record check, employment references and education verification.CLOSING DATE: ongoing until positions are filled.
