The Supervisor will maintain a safe work environment for all employees while overseeing the timely, efficient, and cost-effective completion of locomotive and traction motor electrical projects. This role ensures all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, technical specifications, customer requirements, and operational expectations.\nMAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:\nSupervise the electrical team to ensure work is completed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner, in compliance with all requirements, specifications, customer standards, and applicable regulations.\nEnsure all employees and contractors work safely and adhere to company policies, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.\nMonitor and respond to train operational requirements as required (24/7).\nEnsure locomotives arriving on shift are inspected, serviced, and prepared for release.\nCoordinate and oversee evening shift shop activities, ensuring continuity of work from the day shift and adherence to established work lists and priorities.\nAssist with capital overhauls, major running repairs, scheduled repairs, and unscheduled repairs.\nTrack maintenance items and monitor repair progress within the Locomotive Shop.\nEnsure equipment maintenance and repair activities are carried out in compliance with AAR, FRA, and Transport Canada regulations.\nSupport the day-shift supervisory team in meeting delivery dates, commitment times, and customer expectations.\nProcess and manage operational communications, including email correspondence.\nUpdate and maintain progress reports to track daily locomotive status and shop activities.\nAssist with recruitment activities, including interviews, and support employee training, technical training, and safety training coordination.\nReview and approve employee timecards on a weekly basis.\nProvide technical support, troubleshooting assistance, and operational guidance to internal and external stakeholders to avoid delays and ensure locomotives operate in a safe and efficient manner.\nSupport and advise the Cochrane and Englehart teams, as well as internal customers requiring remote support and technical assistance.\nManage work standards through regular review and inspection to ensure all work performed in the shop meets regulatory, customer, and company standards.\n REQUIREMENTS:Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)\nValid 309A Electrician or 442A Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification\nMinimum 5 years of relevant tradesperson experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities\nLocomotive experience, supervisory experience, and experience working in a unionized environment are considered assets\nExperience working with budgets, schedules, and operational performance objectives\nKnowledge of electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection practices\nKnowledge of Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and WHMIS requirements\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as working knowledge of AS400, Intelex, and SharePoint\nAbility to supervise employees, coordinate workloads, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment\nAbility to plan and coordinate schedules, projects, and resources to meet operational requirements\nStrong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills\nEffective communication, teamwork, coaching, and employee relations skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with employees, management, customers, and stakeholders\nCommitment to health and safety\nAPPLICATION PROCESS: The successful candidate will need to pass the following clearances: criminal record check, employment references and education verification.CLOSING DATE: October 4, 2026, no later than 11:59 p.m. Qualified individuals are invited to apply in writing with a current covering letter and resume (provided in one document), stating reference name and number.
