It also includes promoting knowledge sharing through documentation, boosting application efficiency and scalability with performance optimizations, driving innovation by recommending emerging tools or practices, and contributing to team outcomes by fulfilling additional responsibilities as needed.\nKey Accountabilities\nDevelop, test, and maintain high-quality software applications that meet user needs and support business objectives.\nContribute to system design and architecture discussions to improve scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects efficiently to support system stability and a positive user experience.\nParticipate in code reviews, promote coding best practices, and support knowledge sharing across the development team.\nApply security, compliance, data protection, and industry best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.\nCollaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, align on priorities, and deliver effective software solutions.\nCreate and maintain clear technical documentation for features, design decisions, processes, and system architecture.\nSupport continuous improvement by optimizing application performance, evaluating new tools and technologies, and adapting to evolving team and business needs.\nQualifications\nFour-year university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. \nMinimum of 4 years of relevant software development experience, including development, testing, maintenance, and support of production applications.\nStrong hands-on experience developing backend applications and services using C#, .NET, and Java including APIs, integrations, business logic, and data-access components.\nDemonstrated ability to design and deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and high-performing software solutions using sound object-oriented design, software design patterns, secure coding practices, and established development standards.\nExperience working with relational databases, cloud services, APIs, source control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and production support practices.\nFull-stack development experience with a primary strength in backend development; practical exposure to Angular or React is required to support effective collaboration across the full stack.\nExperience working in an Agile environment, including iterative delivery, sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, peer code reviews, retrospectives, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.\nDemonstrated ability to quickly learn, assess, and apply new programming languages, frameworks, tools, and development practices based on changing business and technology needs.\nFamiliarity with AI tools and capabilities used in the software development lifecycle-such as AI-assisted coding, testing, code analysis, documentation, or automation-and the ability to use them responsibly with appropriate attention to security, privacy, quality, and human review.\nStrong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, engineering excellence, and high standards of quality, security, and reliability.\nThe successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.\nOPG is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and accessible environment.
