The Training Coordinator will develop training sessions, workshops, resource materials, and communication tools to support Parenting Support Workers in advocating for Indigenous women and their families. This position focuses on the development and delivery of training for Parenting Support Workers across the parenting continuum from infancy, childhood, youth, and beyond. The program supports ONWA’s commitment to reclaiming and restoring the role of Indigenous women as mothers, recognizing their inherent right to parent their children and maintain family connections.\nThe Training Coordinator will provide leadership in developing trauma-informed resources, training materials, and a Parenting Program Manual focused on parenting skill development, reunification processes, and culturally grounded approaches to supporting Indigenous women and families. The position will work collaboratively with other BFFV program staff to address community needs and service gaps while ensuring Indigenous women and families remain meaningfully engaged in program development and delivery.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nSKILLS:\nPost-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Indigenous Learning, Women’s Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nMinimum of three (3) years of experience in community service delivery.\nExcellent facilitation, presentation, and training delivery skills.\nExperience coordinating workshops, conferences, and training events.\nExperience developing and implementing resources, training materials, and educational tools.\nKnowledge and experience using a Train-the-Trainer model.\nStrong networking, relationship building, and partnership development skills.\nExcellent administrative, organizational, and coordination abilities.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\nDemonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage time effectively.\nHighly motivated with the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.\nDemonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to consider multiple perspectives.\nExperience with project financial management.\nAbility to build trust and establish dependable working relationships.\nKNOWLEDGE:\nThorough knowledge of Child Welfare Systems and Violence Against Indigenous Women sectors.\nProven understanding of issues affecting victims involved in child welfare and family violence systems.\nKnowledge of parenting support programs and family reunification approaches.\nKnowledge of culturally grounded and trauma-informed practices.\nAwareness of community resources and support services across Ontario.\nKnowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, teachings, and community perspectives.\nUnderstanding of advocacy approaches that support Indigenous women and families.\nKnowledge of communication and public education strategies.\nAwareness of historical, systemic, and intergenerational impacts affecting Indigenous women and families.\nAbility to speak an Indigenous language is considered an asset.\nPlease know, this is an existing role we are looking to fill.\nWe welcome applications from people with disabilities.
