A movement for better thinking, smarter solutions and lasting impact.\nTogether, we will advance our way of life and protect the integrity of our environment every step of the way.\nA Day in the Life\nAs an Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Technologist, in Fort St. John, British Columbia, you’ll be responsible for leading multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.\nThe compensation range for this role is $31.00 to $50.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location\nTo thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:\nPerform simple to complex contaminated site investigations, including drilling assessments, groundwater monitoring, remediation activities, and reclamation activities involving: k-tests, elevation surveys, and sampling using a variety of methods (e.g., peristaltic pumps, hydrasleeves, bailers, etc.)\nsupervising a variety of drilling types in soil and bedrock (e.g., solid stem, hollow stem, and air rotary) and installing GW monitoring wells\nsupervising remedial excavations and trucking, confirmatory sampling, and operating remediation systems\nsupervising reclamation equipment and performing reclamation assessments on agricultural and crown land (e.g., Schedule B assessments)\n\nSupervise and coordinate field contractors and equipment for a variety of projects\nPrepare for ground disturbance including submitting BC 1 Calls, reviewing ground disturbance packages, and supervising line locators and hydrovacs\nCollaborate with project managers and technical advisors and communicate project progress, execution, and scope changes\nSupport and mentor junior professionals and provide on-the-job training in the field and office\nLearn, understand, and apply BC regulations related to assessment, remediation, and reclamation of oil and gas sites and ensure regulatory requirements are met as part of project execution\nThis role will require approximately 85% of time to be in the field\nYour Expertise and Skills\nThese requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.\nMinimum 3 years of previous experience with assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects\nA degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or engineering\nExhibit a strong safety mindset\nSelf-motivated and possess strong communication skills\nAbility to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior professionals\nExperience as a ground disturbance supervisor\nFamiliarity with spill response would be considered an asset\nEligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization would be considered an asset\nA valid and clean driver’s license with no restrictions\nWork Environment and Physical Requirements\nThe physical and environmental requirements below reflect what’s typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.
