A movement for better thinking, smarter solutions and lasting impact.\nTogether, we will advance our way of life and protect the integrity of our environment every step of the way.\nA Day in the Life\nAs a Laboratory Technician I in our Orange, CA Laboratory, you’ll be responsible for preparing samples, support daily lab operations, and collaborate with experienced teammates - delivering safe, accurate, on-time results every day.\nThe compensation range for this role is $20.50 to $25, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.\nDepartment: Micro/IC\nSchedule: Full-Time. Sun - Thurs; 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm (2nd Shift)\nShift Premium: Employees assigned to the 2nd shift schedule are eligible to receive an additional 10% shift premium.\nTo thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:\nDaily monitoring of sample scheduling and ensure that samples are analyzed within EPA’s holding time and clients’ due dates \nRoutine sample preparation and analysis according to EPA methods (314.0, 300.0, 7199, and 218.6) \nPrepare samples and load on IC instruments \nPerforms data entry \nAdheres to Standard Operating Procedures and follow safe work practices \nPerform inventory \nCross trains on inter-department and intra-department levels \nParticipates in lab’s meetings and focus teams \nWork effectively with other departments \nCreate CARs when required and support corrective actions \nYour Expertise and Skills\nThese requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.\nAssociates degree or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred\nAbility to lift 20-30 pounds independently \nPreferred Skills\n1 year of lab experience (academic or professional) preferred\nFamiliar with microbiological methods and techniques\nAble to accommodate flexible schedule including overtime, after-hours and weekend\nAble to work independently and make sound decision\nExcellent organization skills and strong communication skills\nProficiency in laboratory techniques and safety (PPE, balances, pipettes, glassware handling, etc.) \nBasic excel skills and familiarity with LIMS \nStrong organization, attention to detail, and teamwork \nComfort working with strong acids; ability to remain stationary as needed \nWork Environment and Physical Requirements\nThe physical and environmental requirements below reflect what’s typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.
