A Day in the Life
The compensation range for this role is $200k to $250k commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
As a leader within the Environmental Services focused on the Oil & Gas industry, this position oversees a broad range of business, operational, and people leadership responsibilities.
Regional Leadership & Corporate Administration
Partner with Regional Vice Presidents to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with company growth objectives.
Participate in leadership meetings to review operational performance, financial results, staffing projections, safety metrics, and growth opportunities.
Collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, Safety, IT, Marketing, and Operations leaders to support regional objectives and corporate initiatives.
Champion company values, culture, and operational excellence across all Colorado offices.
Develop, monitor, and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue, profitability, utilization, forecasting, safety, staff engagement, and project performance.
Lead operational improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, and client service delivery.
Support mergers, acquisitions, integration activities, and organizational growth initiatives as needed.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Regional Operations Management
Provide operational leadership for Environmental Service Lines across Colorado.
Own and manage regional P&L performance, including revenue growth, profitability, labor utilization, backlog, and operational efficiency metrics.
Develop annual business plans, operating budgets, and strategic growth plans for the region.
Monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Partner with Practice Leaders to forecast staffing needs and balance resources across projects and offices.
Review sales pipelines, project backlog, and workload forecasts to ensure sustainable growth and effective utilization.
Lead regular operational reviews focused on project performance, resource allocation, staffing demands, and financial results.
Evaluate and approve capital expenditures, hiring plans, and resource investments supporting regional growth.
Identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure successful project execution and business continuity.
Drive operational consistency and best practices across all offices and service lines.
People Leadership & Talent Development
Provide direct leadership and mentorship to Operations Managers, Practice Leaders, People Managers, and senior technical staff.
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, development, collaboration, and employee engagement.
Partner with HR and People Leaders to recruit, develop, and retain top talent.
Oversee workforce planning and succession planning initiatives across the region.
Establish performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews for direct reports.
Coach leaders on employee relations, performance management, and career development.
Monitor employee engagement, retention trends, and organizational health metrics.
Support leadership development programs and technical training initiatives.
Client Delivery & Business Growth
Partner with Sector Leaders and Business Development teams to drive growth within Oil & Gas, Natural Resources, Environmental Services, Compliance, Remediation, Water Resources, and related service offerings.
Support strategic client relationships and participate in executive-level client meetings.
Review major pursuits, proposals, scopes of work, staffing plans, and go/no-go decisions.
Ensure projects are appropriately staffed and delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and at a high level of quality.
Collaborate with project leadership to resolve resource constraints, operational challenges, and client concerns.
Support the development of long-term client relationships and market expansion opportunities throughout Colorado.
Maintain a personal sales and booked revenue target consistent with regional growth objectives.
Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and enter new markets.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company, client, OSHA, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor regional safety performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote quality management standards and operational best practices across all service lines.
Ensure consistent application of company procedures and project management standards.
Lead investigations and corrective actions related to operational, safety, or quality issues.
Foster a culture of accountability, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Your Expertise and Skills
To perform this job successfully, the ideal candidate will have the following credentials:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
15+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, natural resources, energy, oil & gas, or related industries.
10+ years of leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams, operational performance, and business growth.
Demonstrated experience managing regional or multi-office P&L responsibilities.
Strong understanding of oil & gas operations, environmental compliance, remediation, natural resource management, and consulting services.
Proven success in strategic planning, operations management, and organizational leadership.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, profitability, utilization, and revenue growth.
Demonstrated ability to lead through change and drive organizational transformation.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
Experience developing high-performing teams and coaching emerging leaders.
Ability to travel as needed.
